Ooh how about ✅ for the ask thing
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
Thanks for the ask!
It’s less “accidental theme” and more “accidental self-plagiarism”.
The most recent example was in my two Shall We Vore fics:
TTDaaY:
(lmao now I can't find it)
Emma didn't care if he thought it was tacit agreement - she could object to a hated idea while still participating in said idea out of necessity.
This isn’t it, but it’s the problem of using the same words for the same theme - wrestling with one’s emotions and not allowing them to cloud rational judgement is important to me. As ‘Emma’ is the closest to a ‘sona I’ve made yet just gonna ignore that stuff I did back in HS I have to logic up a way for her to be willing prey.
Spotter:
As per usual, the answer was Yes.
I’d had to go back and edit Spotter because it was the same sentence, rip.
It’s a pet peeve of mine that people are incredibly irrational and needlessly super complicate my daily interactions; on top of being autistic and having to try and predict what people think, I also can’t simply go “alright, what would a rational person be thinking?” because nooo that’d be too easy.
... maybe it also ties into the PTSD and having to ask myself “which feelings are normal and which can be quarantined as trauma-induced?”

(5) Two Tsun-deres and a Yan-
Masterlist
This is the final installment in my AU character study. As I do consider it a ‘character study’, any and all comments regarding my portrayal of the bois is welcomed. Thank you to everyone who’s stuck with me thus far, and especially to the lovely people who’ve left feedback, you’re all amazing.
No vore in this one, but it is heavily referenced - both in recap of previous events and speculation of the future. It skims the Luke/Grimoire arc, the Castle Retreat arc, and the bodyswap arc. Just under 6.8k words - the secret of ‘Emma is willing prey’ couldn’t be kept under wraps forever.
Branches from the main plot of Ob//ey M//e! during Lesson 4-6 as Levi canonically states he’d been intending to eat MC up until a minute ago. Written from the viewpoint of my MC as a character study of sorts for the bois.

For once, Emma was relieved to not be offered a choice: sleep in a room with a demon who might take a sleepwalking bite out of her, or sleep in a room with a demon who'd do his damnedest to persuade her to spend the night - oh, who was she kidding, to spend every night - in his stomach. What the hell kind of 'choice' was that?
Between the mental fog of insomnia and the constant nigh-on begging, the human knew she'd give in. Trade a rested full night's sleep for only teasing about being a 'bedtime snack'? If Mammon kept chipping away at the wall of pride standing between him and his 'food' - as Emma knew he would, given how desperate he'd been to eat her, how thrilled he'd been at her 'yes', and how his stomach was awash with the glow of Greed after finally having swallowed her - she'd crack sooner rather than later.
Not that she'd've minded; Emma really honestly didn't. She was just too proud to say so. The human knew it made her a bit tsundere, too, the refusal to admit what was blatantly obvious, but it was just so humiliating! If only Mammon would stop teasing her...
Oddly enough, it hadn't affected their relationship much at all, at least when they weren't alone. Mammon squirmed out of the massive hug she gave him for scoring so well on the assignment she'd 'helped' with, albeit with the slight pause telling her he'd rejected the attention solely to save face; he used the exact same excuses and denials for why he needed to go everywhere with her; the only difference was a fleeting amused glance in her direction whenever they overheard any sort of remark related to 'demons enjoy eating humans', as if it was relegated to being just an inside joke.
'It was a joke!' Was it, really?
He remained the easiest to talk to; while Lucifer had recommended she obtain Satan's advice in literature, there was only so much history books could do to advance one's cultural knowledge. Fortunately, it was a topic the Avatar of Greed was more than willing to talk about.
She'd promised herself to be kinder towards the demon, still feeling guilty for hitting him, but it gave her such conflicting feelings. Emma still felt awkward being alone with him, worried she'd have another verbal slipup and prompt a conversation on the culinary history between humans and demons.
Staying in Beel's room did grant her a sort of buffer - even when the Avatar of Gluttony wasn't present, there was no form of 'home field advantage' for either of them - and also she didn't have to be the one kicking Mammon out each night. The woman didn't mind pretending to be 'demon food', but there was no way in literal Hell Emma would display more skin than she'd already shown in shorts and a t-shirt.
Beel woke up incredibly early each morning to eat, exercise, and eat some more. Normally this would have woken her up, too, but the Twins sharing a room meant she was staying not in the Avatar of Gluttony's room, but also that of the Avatar of Sloth.
Having learned the missing brother's name, Emma had yet to put a face to the identity of 'Belphegor'. I'd better discover his appearance fast, because unless I'm grossly mistaken, that is who's locked in the attic. C'mon, the tousled locks known as 'bed head' coupled with the massive pillow the mysterious person cradled lovingly in his arms each time she spoke with him? It just screamed 'I embody tiredness and apathy'.
But why? Why was he locked up, why did he not want her to tell anyone? The Twins were supposed to be very close, so why shouldn't she tell Beel? She was just a human in a world of demons, creatures more than a millennia old, so there was obviously history, context that she didn't have. Didn't have, but wanted - needed, even - to increase her chances of surviving the year.
Emma tried to keep her leg from bouncing, jittery hands clenched into fists; she had to get out, to blow off all this steam and mental chaos, before she ripped herself apart. "Hey, Beel?" The pasted-on smile quickly shaped into a natural one as she watched the tall redhead hastily chew for a few moments before thickly swallowing the literal mouthful of sandwich he'd bitten off.
Oh, it was so unfair! There were such few foods she could eat without spilling on a book, yet she’d never once seen Beel get even a single drop on either his homework or his textbooks.
"Hmm?" There was that single syllable again, meaning so much yet saying so little.
Mammon had darted off the moment final bell rang, texting a hurried explanation about some modeling gig or something, leaving her alone with Beel. Fortunately, he'd agreed to help with her schoolwork if she'd help him retrieve actual study snacks.
All Emma had for herself was the one single fruit she’d snatched from the refrigerator door before Beel cleared it all out. She'd munched on the large and surprisingly juicy apple, exchanging food-muffled questions for equally food-muffled answers. It hadn't taken long to clear up her homework confusion, and Emma made sure to repeatedly thank the demon for his help.
"I was wondering-"
Beel folded up the other half of his sandwich to better fit it in his mouth, nodding to say he was still paying attention.
"-I felt like going for a run but didn't want to go alone, could I ask you to come along?"
The tragic look of sheer longing he gave what was left of the contents of the fridge made another smile twitch at her lips.
"Oh I can wait for you to finish eating, don't worry." Beel's face immediately lit up like the sun. It was a good thing his body language was so expressive; when he only paused long enough to breathe, mealtime conversations became quite difficult. "I've got some extra Grimm, maybe just a quick one, down to AkuDonald's and back?"
"That's five kilometers," he explained, apologies now written all over his face as he looked up from assembling yet another sandwich.
Emma shrugged to say that she already knew, that it wasn't a big deal, or both. "Not five 'k one way." That was - what, a little over 3 miles with a midpoint break? She could manage that, easy.
—————————————————–
It felt good to run, to feel her heart race and blood pumping for nothing more than the joy of running. No fear, no panic, just her and the fresh air. The only thing that could make this better was if she had some earbuds to listen to music. But Emma knew that she had to be fully attentive to her surroundings at all times, so as not to tempt any demons that might still try to make a grab for her.
That was why she’d asked Beel along - well, most of the reason. Absent music, running was best done with a friend. Simply walking with the massive demon to the door was a treat - between her long legs and rapid pace, she didn't have to slow down to let him catch up.
It twinged at her pride a bit, knowing that she was the one holding them back and not her running partner. Shove it, she told herself, suck up your pride and Deal With It.
Her lungs eventually began to burn, thighs aching soon after, and though Emma tried to hide it, to push past the pain, Beel noticed and gradually slowed to a stop.
Sore, but grateful, Emma bent over just enough to brace her hand on her legs, panting as she tried to breathe regularly. She didn't want to pass out - potentially lethal in the Devildom - from something as stupid as not enough CO². Did the Devildom have the same blend of atmospheric gases as Earth the Human Realm? What in the Hell had she been breathing in Mammon's stomach, anyway?
The woman let her thoughts wander until she felt a hand lightly wrap around her shoulder. "I- oh! Sorry, I'm fi- fine." Emma breathed in deeply, standing up straight as she filled her lungs. "It's been awhile since I've done more than casual sprints," she explained, and Beel nodded back, removing his hand.
“If you just wanted to exercise, I could get you a membership at the gym." He tilted his head, "R.A.D. students get a discount, and you could probably get it almost for free since I'm on the student council."
She smiled and shook her head. "Honestly, I hate exercising, it's the running that I like. But I have to actually go somewhere -" Emma indicated the nearby park, "- for it to count. Treadmills are just boring." Shuffling awkwardly in place, she shrugged, "I know I'm not for real, but I pretend I'm running away from my problems until I can deal with them later."
“By ‘problems’ you mean ‘Mammon’.”
Emma wasn’t surprised it wasn’t a question, but rather by the evident concern in Beel’s voice. "He is a 'problem' normally, but that's not what I meant," she replied with another faint shrug. "He didn't coerce me or anything -" Stating the truth that his way was her only option wasn't coercion, it was reality, a Fact. "- either time. Some stuff happened after the quiz contest with Levi and it's still too much for me to deal with right now."
It stung deeply, the 'demon food' comment. She'd brushed off the initial epithets as just Mammon sulking about their pact like usual, but then he'd eaten her - and she'd let him, twice! - and suddenly the term carried a new weight. Emma knew it was a term that could apply to literally any human - hadn't she overheard enough conversations about exactly that? - but from him, it was a subtle reminder. A reminder that Mammon knew the secrets of that night, and that precious little was preventing him from telling those secrets to anyone, and that she couldn't do much about it if he did.
What were the demon brothers to her - captors, fellow students, flatmates? The answer was more complicated than she found comfortable. She thought she had the labels for Mammon at least pinned down: pact partner, charge/ward, even friend - though his tsundere ass denied it - yet 'food' was still one of his own labels for her; every once in awhile Emma would notice the hunger-greed look in his pretty blue eyes and had to turn away, fighting both nausea and a blush - or else Mammon would make an oblique comment and then laugh at her frown. Taunting her. Gloating, mocking. Or so that voice in the back of her head - the one constantly screaming about how STUPID she was to let a demon eat her - insisted.
Beel was still watching her, head tilted in the same adorable curiosity of a puppy.
"I'm worried that if anyone else finds out, they won't be able to see me as anything other than demon food." And that was her secret fear. First and foremost, Emma was a person. A weak and rather defenseless human, yes, one in a world of demons, but that didn’t mean she was less than any of them.
"I don't think of you as just food," Beel said quietly. Concern, previously only in his voice, now shone in his eyes.
Not 'just' food. The human wasn't surprised the Avatar of Gluttony continued to think humans were tasty, but for her to mean something else - something very different - to him as well? She wanted to throw her arms around Beel and give the biggest hug she could manage, but Emma worried that would be too forward of a gesture. So instead, she worked her hand into his and gave what she hoped was an encouraging smile.
Beel blinked and looked down at their linked fingers, then met her eyes with a dazzling smile.
Emma’s smile grew wider, and she fully meant it this time. She’d soon realized that her initial impression of the Avatar of Gluttony - dense, slow-witted, simple - was quite wrong. Instead, Beelzebub was thoughtful, methodical, and sincere. He was genuine, a trait she’d seen in precious few humans, let alone in the denizens of the Devildom. Just because he rarely spoke, just because 90% of the comments he did make were related to food - that didn't translate to stupidity or naivety; the demon simply kept his thoughts and opinions to himself, rather than dumping them on anyone who’d listen.
“Is it okay if we take it easy the rest of the way there?” she asked. Her calves were starting to ache, and she knew if she just stood where she was at, they’d cramp so bad she couldn’t walk at all.
Beel kept smiling, even as his stomach growled. “Sure! Just not too slowly.”
She nodded and started walking as fast as she could, not quite a power walk, but an impressive speed nonetheless.
Holding back to let the taller demon open the door, Emma fished out her wallet and did a quick estimate of her current funds; she didn't have a lot but wanted to buy him the greatest quantity of food she could.
Chewing on her lip to keep from giggling at the increasingly unhappy noises the Avatar of Gluttony's stomach was making, she listed off the different permutations of what she had money for, then stepped out of line to check why her D.D.D. was buzzing.
Mammon
//Yo, where'd you go? Thought ya said you were staying home this afternoon!//
//Didn't think you'd miss me enough to go lookin'for me, I tol'ja I'd be back in just a few hours.//
'One (1) Missed Call'
Mammon
//Hey!//
//Don't ya ignore me!!//
Emma
//Just calm down.//
//Went running with Beel.//
Mammon
//Why didn’t you ask me!??//
Emma
//You didn’t seem the type to go out running specifically just to run.//
Mammon
//No point. Ain’t any races that pay enough to be worth my time.//
Emma
//So why does it matter that I went running with Beel? I'm paying for his company with cheeseburgers-//
In case you're worrie- no, in case you're jealous..., she thought with a wicked grin.
//-and we should be back at the House soon.//
Mammon
//Ya don’t need to leave home ta run. There’s plenty of spaces you could run in.//
//Like my room.//
Emma could feel a muscle at the corner of her jaw twitching. She waved her phone angrily at Beel when he rejoined her. “Are your brothers contractually obligated to be colossal assholes?”
"What'd Asmo say this time?" Beel asked. Or rather, Emma thought he'd asked; seemed an entire loaded cheeseburger was in his mouth. At least he'd removed the wrapper beforehand. The paper slowly dripped colorful condiments between Beelzebub's fingers, going completely unnoticed by the demon.
"No, this time the problem is Mammon," she sighed. Emma had bent her pride enough to allow him to eat her, but this sort of pretend crossed the line.
She was aware that demons ate - legitimately - humans, mostly when summonings went awry, according to the Devildom History texts she'd read, and knew that in the past humans had also been outright hunted, but Emma was not willing to let him 'hunt' her.
Mammon
//Yanno what? Just forget I ever said anythin’.//
I will, she thought.
But there was something else Emma couldn't forget, reminded by the shiny twinkling by her shoe - a high denomination Grimm coin lay next to the splotches of ketchup. Was this a bribe or an apology? Or - Emma thought back to what she’d learned in her first few hours in the Devildom - was it as innocent a coincidence as Mammon simply liking her?
She very carefully covered it with her foot; it hadn't been there a moment ago, and she doubted Beel had noticed, fully preoccupied with gnawing on the stained wrappers crumpled in his large hands and rounding up any more trails of sauce that threatened to escape.
I'm going to have to test that out. Maybe the lottery, with the smallest jackpot she could find. But what could serve as her ‘control’? She couldn’t truly rest until she figured it out. What was the full saying about curiosity and the cat, again? Something about results... If I do, I'll have to be covert about it, and then figure out the best way to get rid of the money. Emma couldn't handle much more teasing, nor things with Mammon becoming even more complicated than before.
She didn't look back at it on the way to the House, not wanting to know whether it disappeared or stayed there, glinting for some other passersby to grab; gifts always came with strings attached, and on the rare occasion that they didn't, she felt like it was somehow taking advantage of the gifter.
—————————————————–
Oh, it was so nice to have her own room back. She carefully placed the heavy stack of books on her desk: texts on the Celestial War. Beel had been so upset talking about it; Emma didn’t want to risk asking his older siblings and upsetting them as well. They’d have been the best sources, albeit biased as hell. And so she had to settle for history books. Asking Simeon had crossed her mind, since apparently Luke was far too young - at least by angelic and demonic standards - but she didn’t think she could come up with a good enough excuse for the sudden curiosity.
They might be angels, but they also were with her in Hell. Though a lot took Emma by surprise - how different things were from her Bible-based theology - Simeon especially caught her off guard. She couldn't get a read on him, but then again, could anyone? He knows, too, doesn't he?
Slotting her bottles of medication back into the vanity - thank Heaven Beel hadn't eaten any pills - she frowned down at her D.D.D., skittering across the counter with a notification.
Lucifer
//There are some books that you might find useful. I have removed them from the library and placed them in your closet for now.//
///You may wish to read them elsewhere to prevent any... unfortunate misunderstandings with my brothers.//
Books in the closet...? What on Earth was he talking about? Emma knelt down in front of her closet and slid the door open. Sure enough, there was a sizeable stack in the far corner. She didn't recognize any of them and there didn't seem to be any overall th- Oh. Sitting on the very bottom was the very same text Mammon had used to un-shrink her.
Now she saw a common trend: wards of protection, size manipulation, and even one devoted to treating - and causing - various stomach ailments.
Emma whipped out her D.D.D. and pulled up his last text. Oh shit. She paled; it seemed Lucifer knew and wanted her to know that he knew. Now more than half of the brothers did. She needed to thank him in a way of conveying that she knew exactly what he implied, that she appreciated the discretion, and that she was capable of being similarly discreet. If Belphegor was to have any chance, she needed to gain Lucifer’s respect, even if just a tiny bit at a time.
Emma
//Thank you for taking those books for me. I'll try to give them a read over when I get the chance.//
Aaaand hit 'send', there we go. Her phone buzzed almost immediately with a response, just that cute little sticker of a demon figure nodding.
Rather than put her phone away, Emma scrolled through the different group chats she was in, not seeing one yet with just her and Levi and Mammon. Guess I'll have to make one, she thought.
'Add contact to group? Y/N'
Emma
//Hey I need to talk to you two. Something came up and I kind of need a favor.//
Levi
//Can it wait? I'm playing Mononoke Land right now and I'm about to level up.//
Mammon
//Just pause it.//
//What kind of favor?//
//I’ll do it if you make it worth my while.//
//If ya know what I mean.//
//😏//
Emma
//Problem: Lucifer knows.//
Mammon
//Knows what?//
//... oh.//
Levi
//Yeah, knows what?//
Emma
//That you ate me.//
Levi
//😨//
Emma
//Safe to assume he knows both of you did.//
Levi
//‘Both’? LMAO knew you couldn’t resist.//
//How were my leftovers, Mammon? lololol//
She ground her teeth together, feeling a muscle in her jaw start to twitch. Oh, he was in for it now.
Mammon
//Tastier each time.//
//Turns out humans are a whole lot more delicious when they’re not fightin’ ya the whole way down.//
//Not that you’d know, of course.//
Scratch that; both of them were in for it now. She glared at her phone, waiting for Leviathan to send whatever he was typing, and debated renaming the group chat something rude, maybe even a pointed reminder they both had pacts with her.
Levi
//Wait, Emma LET you eat her? WTAF!?//
//Whyyyy would you do that, Emma??//
//Because, AS SURPRISING AS IT SOUNDS, Mammon actually bothered to fucking ASK POLITELY if he could!!// Nope, probably best not to send that. Emma held down the delete button while the two demons bickered via stickers, repeating the process with a few more other harshly worded statements before settling on a simple,
Emma
//Not important right now.//
//I just do NOT want ANYONE else to know!//
//I hid that book you both apparently referenced.//
//So I want help making sure this stays a secret.//
//Please.//
//😉//
Levi
//Hmm. Why should I?//
Emma
//Because I am asking nicely.//
//Because I don’t think Lucifer knows EXACTLY what happened after the trivia contest ended.//
//So he might not know ALL of the details.//
//Yet.//
Maybe a bit over-the-top dramatic, but damn it felt good to get that dig in. She didn’t actually plan on tattling, though; Emma figured she’d continue to hold it over his head until she finally got an apology... which she hadn’t specifically said she needed, but c’mon, was it really that much to ask for, all things considered? She frowned at the push notification of a private message.
Mammon
//🤣//
Nope, not going to even acknowledge that.
‘Mark Message As Read? Y/N’
Emma carefully pried away the loose board at the lower frame of her bed, setting the books inside. She didn't know if anyone knew about the compartment, so she never kept food in there - in case Beel sniffed it out - or any money or jewelry - in case Mammon sniffed it out - and damaged the panels.
When did he find out? Wondering how Lucifer knew anything could tie one's brain up in knots; Mammon frequently complained about being absolutely positive 'nobody could've known' about such and such escapade of his, yet the eldest always managed to catch him in the entryway, arms folded with a bone-chilling expression.
Emma didn't think the how or where or when mattered, though she now questioned his comment during lunch prior to setting out for London - 'As much as I enjoy a good human soul, I'm not fond of human flesh.' At the time, she'd thought it was nothing more than a subtle jab at her faith, pointing out the irony that eight 'Rulers of Hell' were actively safeguarding a Christian's soul.
Lucifer knew, and Barbatos and Diavolo certainly knew - they claimed they'd done thorough research before selecting her for the Program - but it seemed Mammon didn't; the Avatar of Pride could have outright said he wasn't interested in eating her, but he'd chosen his words carefully. Students were already threatening to eat her flesh and/or her soul, how much worse off would she be if word got out she was kinda okay with being eaten, or that she served the Ruler of the Celestial Realm?
Lucifer didn't lie that she knew of - beyond that elephant in the room of his brother in the attic - but one could still never take his words at face value; the message and delivery meant more than just 'I'm aware of what certain brothers have done'. He wasn't forbidding it, but neither was the eldest encouraging it; rather it was nothing more than implicit permission, granting her control of which brothers knew and when, helping deepen her understanding of what exactly was involved, or some combination of the above.
What a headache...
—————————————————–
Emma fought to keep her eyes open, dully stabbing at her breakfast, each bite a Herculean feat. Why wasn't Mammon asking to eat her again? She wasn't sleeping, she couldn't sleep, yet didn't feel quite desperate enough to admit she wanted more than a few hour nap; the woman wanted an entire night spent in the demon's stomach. I'd get caught, certainly, or at least have to explain to Lucifer that 'no, really' I'm not screwing any of his brothers, that it was just a sleepover, nothing dirty going on. Gross.
She lifted her head slightly, hearing her name.
"- or any further complaints regarding punishment for verbal abuse of our transfer students."
C'mon, stupid piece of shit wasn't in the hospital that long.
"Diavolo is of the opinion a reminder that it is still illegal to consume human guests of the Devildom is not yet warranted." Lucifer sighed, "That law - while controversial - has gone unchallenged so far; to think this is the standing that the Exchange Program tests." The demon shook his head wearily and drained his mug of coffee, pouring a refill only to knock it back immediately.
Hearing about the enacting of new laws was a million times more interesting when brawls were involved, and when those brawls included magic? Emma had almost forgotten it was a personal assignment with formal note taking, and not just her usual pleasure reading. The streets where demons protested not being allowed to eat random humans had ran black with shed blood. We really are delicacies to them...
Leviathan snickered under his breath as he twirled his fork around his plate, "Apparently that's less of a threat than you think."
FUCK. Her heart definitely skipped a beat - if not several - and Emma buried her face in her hands, internally cursing the fact she couldn't hide her flaming red ears as well. She'd only ordered Mammon not to ‘let them know’, and now that they did know... No, no, no, oh this is so bad!
The Avatar of Greed chuckled as well, “I mean, I knew our human was weird, but like, I didn’t know she was that weird.”
Let's see, if she was sitting Here, and if he was sitting There, then that meant...
"And y’all made fun 'a me for making a pa- Ow!" Mammon smashed his forehead into the table grabbing for his brushed shin.
Emma hid the faintest of smiles behind her hands. He probably knew who'd kicked him but she could still deny it easily enough. She heard the clink of silverware dropped onto a plate, and more than one shocked intake of breath.
“So that time you said you slept ‘on the floor’ you weren’t talking about the carpet now, were you?” Asmodeus practically purred sultrily.
Emma angled one hand away from her face just enough to flip the smug Avatar of Lust off, glaring through the gap in her fingers. For once, she actually hoped he would get handsy, because he was just begging to be slapped.
She knew it would have come out eventually, and she knew there would be assorted comments made, but dammit! The woman had wanted to control the spread of information enough to at least be prepared when outed, but now here she was, on the back foot, not sure how to respond.
The uncertainty made her afraid, and that fear made her angry, both at everyone at the table including herself, but also at no single person in particular. Emma considered her options and realized that all of them would only make the situation worse. Dimly aware of the demon brothers speaking, Emma focused all of her anger to a single point, a solid nub to which she clung with a death grip. She knew what she had to do next.
“I’m heading to class,” she said, standing abruptly and gathering her dishes in seamless motion as fast as she could, “I’ll see you all later.” Emma worried that one of them would follow her or worse, try to stop her. But all she heard as she power walked out of the room was,
“I’m surprised you don’t have anything to say, Beel,” from Satan.
“Already knew,” Beelzebub’s food-muffled response was the last thing Emma caught before entering the kitchen.
Practically throwing her dishes into the sink, she jogged out of the House and down the sidewalk, holding her bag tightly against her side. Emma slowed to a brisk stroll just out of sight of R.A.D., carefully brushing her hair back, though she couldn’t do anything about her face, which she was sure was still red.
She felt her D.D.D. buzz in her back pocket as she entered the school bathroom. Standing in front of one of the mirrors, she closed her eyes and took in a shaky breath, letting it out as slowly as she could manage. One of the succubi - not someone she knew well, having no classes with her, a party friend of Asmo's or Mammon's? - glanced over and spoke around the toothbrush sticking out of her mouth. “Something wrong, hun?” she asked.
Emma pulled out her D.D.D. and glanced at the lock screen. It had been a message from a group chat; she’d read it later, when no one was around. If she could dodge this one demon’s question, surely she could make it through the rest of the day. Avoiding the brothers might be a slight problem, but she’d handle that when it came to it. So, what would believably avoid suspicion and also invite exactly zero follow-up questions? “Men,” she said with a slight shake of her head, gesturing with her phone. “You’re here early, too.”
“Flatmate ate the breakfast I had set out ahead of time and,” she spat the toothpaste out angrily, “everything I could have grabbed on the fly. Had to buy some instant garbage junk food. I’m so gonna switch out her AB+ for oh-neg, see how hungry she feels after drinking that diet shit.”
Blood. Gross. Fortunately, Emma possessed neither type and allowed a faint smirk onto her face. “You switching out the packaging too so she don't find out 'til it's too late? Good luck, and I hope she learns her lesson.” Going hungry absolutely sucked, which was why she kept a small snack in her room... or at least tried to. She didn’t really feel like confronting Beel about it, since it could easily have been Mammon that swiped all her granola. "You gonna film her? 'Cause I wouldn't mind seeing her reaction."
"That's the plan. See ya, sweetie." The succubus winked, slipping her toothbrush back into her bag and - thankfully, finally - walked out of the bathroom.
Sliding her finger across the screen, Emma opened the chat program, heart in her mouth. She was terrified that the chat would have that yellow eye symbol; if they were talking about her behind her back, the woman had to know... but at the same time didn’t think she could handle knowing.
Fortunately, it was the House of Lamentation group chat.
Lucifer
//I should not need to remind anyone that the conversation this morning not leave this house. We have a reputation to uphold.//
Emma let out a gusty sigh of relief. She probably should respond, as they'd see she'd read the message. The 'salute' sticker should do. And then she muted her phone and buried it in her backpack; turning it all the way off would send the wrong sort of message.
As disastrous as breakfast had been, school might actually be much easier, at least with today’s schedule. Every lesson today was one where her established seat wasn’t directly adjacent to one of the brothers' and in such a location that not looking at them could absolutely happen on a normal day. It also was not unusual for her to speed from class to class, exchanging no more than the barest of pleasantries.
Lunch... would be tricky to manage. Emma really didn’t want to skip a meal but as frazzled as her nerves were at the moment, she might wind up not having an appetite. Maybe she could sit with Luke? Simeon would probably be there and though the angel was perceptive, he’d never pried into obviously uncomfortable matters past an initial question or two. Solomon would probably be there, too, and though that might give Asmodeus an excuse to also hang around, after what Lucifer had said in the group chat there was no way he’d say anything.
Would Diav- Hmm. Almost certainly knew since the moment Lucifer did, but she didn’t think it would matter much whether the young lord knew that it was now an open secret in the House of Lamentation. Though, now that Emma thought about it, it sure was putting a unique spin on ‘improving relations between the Realms’. And it was funny, too; maybe she’d come to make such a joke herself down the line. Hopefully.
No one had to know that her usual rapid pace was - today - fueled by a deep sense of shame. Not the shame of having been found out, but shame that she couldn’t act like the grown-ass adult she was about it.
Pride. That was it; her pride was getting in the way again. You’re better than this, you know you are!
—————————————————–
“Emma! There you are!”
About as surprised as the voice sounded, Emma jackknifed in her seat, looking up from the text she'd had her nose buried in. "Yeah? What is it?"
The Avatar of Wrath was standing at the end of the row, looking very concerned. "We thought you were just hiding somewhere, but since nobody saw you come home we started to worry that something had happened."
Emma's eyebrows narrowed, surprised by a sudden surge of emotion, but she wasn’t quite sure what emotion it was, fear maybe, or rage. Regardless, she pushed it down. "I must not be doing a very good job of hiding if you found me," she said pleasantly, "I had to look something up for a paper and decided to go ahead and finish the other assignments while I'm here." She held up her notes as evidence.
"You are amazingly calm for a human so filled with anger," Satan observed, casually leaning on the nearby bookcase. "It's truly rare to see one remain as composed as you."
How hubristic of Emma to think she could hide her fury from the Avatar of Wrath. She took in a slow breath and envisioned cramming all her anger into a suitcase, locking the bulging vessel tightly, and throwing it into a figurative closet; it could be unpacked later... along with everything else that had been building up in there. Managing a small smile, she replied placidly, "Losing my temper simply because I'm embarrassed sounds like a waste of my energy better spent elsewhere.” Such as trying to figure out exactly why I felt so embarrassed.
The yellow haired man inclined his head slightly in acknowledgement, a small smile on his face.
Emma had heard the phrase ‘his smile didn’t reach his eyes’ before, but she knew the next time she heard it applied to a human she’d split her sides laughing; those eyes - cold, hard, flat, angry, etc - still looked attached to the smile, if not included in it. Satan’s face, on the other hand, truly looked like a mask with those eerie green eyes shining out from beneath.
Though the smile was faked, she still felt that he not only approved of her answer but agreed with it. Then he had to go and ruin the moment by saying, “Though I wouldn’t settle for flipping a lesser demon over a balcony, myself.”
She flushed. “I told you that was an accident!” And it was - mostly - which was probably the only reason she hadn’t gotten detention - or worse - for assaulting another student. Your hypothetical victim’s name would still start with ‘L’, wouldn’t it? Emma really didn’t understand what was going on between the first- and fourth-born, but she did know that it was best observed from a distance.
“So you say.” Not waiting to hear the human’s protest, Satan continued, “You may want to answer your phone; Asmo’s been working himself into a panic.”
Where actually was her D.D.D.? She fished around, checking down the crevices of the seat cushions and setting her notes aside. Oh there it is. Emma unlocked her screen to see a bombardment of notifications, and not just from the group chat; there were over a dozen missed calls. Probably best to respond there first. The moment she started typing, they’d see her avatar pop up with that (...) bubble, so best figure out what to say before beginning to say so.
Emma
//Sorry, phone got buried under a stack of papers.//
//What’d’ja all want?//
Several bubbles popped up at once.
Lucifer
//Thank devil you're all right.//
Asmo
//Where are you?//
//🥺//
Emma
//HoL Library, in the historical section.//
Levi
//I checked there!//
//And your room; thought you'd decided to hide away from all of us!//
Emma was offended; did they seriously think she was a cowa- Nope. She wadded the thought up, punting it into the closet alongside the other emotional baggage. She twisted in her chair, opening her camera app and flipping it around. Taking a picture of her face with an amused Satan clearly visible in the background, Emma uploaded it to the chat.
Emma
//See? Library. Where I’ve been for a few hours.//
//Sorry if I worried you.//
//Is dinner going to be late?//
She knew mentioning food and/or meals was asking - nay, begging - for inappropriate comments to be made, but it was better to get that out of the way. The woman hadn’t intended to hide - not exactly - but the only other room she felt was both out-of-the-way while still a public area was the planetarium, which itself was a little too... open, not to mention how it was filled to the brim with unpleasant memories. Emma would have had to sit tucked against the wall, and there was no way to deny that wasn’t ‘hiding’ without sounding desperate.
The distraction worked, though she knew the discussion was far from over; after a heated debate it was decided that the HoL would order takeout from Hell’s Kitchen. Satan still hadn’t left, though he’d been active in the group chat, that same eerie smile on his face. Emma glanced at him and tilted her head slightly.
“I’d help you shelve the books - since you’re finished with your assignments - but it seems you’ve picked out more than just for coursework.” His eyes narrowed in faint suspicion, lips thinning in feigned polite smile. “I wasn’t aware you were enrolled in Demon Anatomy 102.” Satan nodded once more, “Don’t be late for dinner,” before turning and leaving.
Emma was very, very happy he could sense anger and not fear. Why?, she asked herself, Why are you afraid? Because, when you broke it down, the underlying situation hadn’t actually changed, only her - and now their - knowledge of it. It had always been possible, she just hadn’t known that it was possible. While they’d known it was possible, they just hadn’t known she’dn’t’ve minded. And so she was afraid of... what? Snide comments?
Teasing, Emma scolded herself, you’re seriously terrified of being teased? Mammon’s comment about her being ‘weird’ had hit hard. Though it had been awhile, the word still carried that old epithetic weight.
Except... She did kind of deserve the term, at least this time around. The old phrase 'Don't threaten me with a good time.' sprung to mind.
Probably should check the individual messages out. It looked like the most were from Mammon.
Mammon
//Emma?//
//Emma, where’d ya run off to!?//
//Look Emma, I’m sorry!//
//It wasn't my faaaaauult.//
//Levi said it first, not me!//
//Did somethin' happen?//
//Are you alright?//
//Dammit, Emma! How'm I supposed to protect ya if you're avoidin' me!?//
One (1) Missed Call
Mammon
//Pick up the phone!//
Frowning at her phone, the woman decided terrifying Mammon in such a way was enough of a punishment. But Levi? She thought Mammon at least would be willing to help her make the third-born's life absolutely miserable. Emma tugged out her notebook and designated a page for prank ideas.

(4) Two Tsun-deres and a Yan-
Masterlist
Set a few days after the events of the first 3 pieces. How is my MC coping with the discovery that she's vore trash, and more importantly, what does Mammon think about it? The vore is willing this time, still soft/safe/clean. Significantly longer than the others, at just over 9.5k words.
Branches from the main plot of Ob//ey M//e! during Lesson 4-6 as Levi canonically states he’d been intending to eat MC up until a minute ago. Written from the viewpoint of my MC as a character study of sorts for the bois.

A floorboard creaked. Emma looked up, wondering who it was. She’d left the door open, not opposed to company, but not actively seeking it out. Fortunately, closed doors - particularly closed bedroom doors - held the same significance as in the human world: Keep Out. However, not everyone respected these unspoken rules of society.
Speaking of...
Making direct eye contact with the demon at her door, Emma slid her hand into the pencil pouch at her side. Abruptly looking startled, Mammon quickly switched to an innocent grin and knocked pointedly on the door frame.
She huffed in annoyance but let go of the eraser clutched in her hand. "I told you I'm not letting you copy my homework again, so what do you need?" She closed her textbook over her papers protectively and scowled at him. Helping someone with homework was one thing; enabling their bad habits by allowing them to skip entirely on the effort was another.
"Hmm, don't need nothin', just feeling a little hungry, is all." He smirked, hands casually stuffed in his pockets.
Emma stared at him in disbelief - and more than mild disgust - that he thought she would ever want to- to do that again! And what could he even offer that he expected she’d accept? She highly doubted it was money, as the demon either was paying off his massive debts or was spending it all on luxuries for himself, there was no in-between with Mammon.
But, now that she thought about it, the Grimm coins she’d occasionally find on the ground on her way to and from classes had increased in both frequency and denomination lately. So if the literal physical embodiment of Greed itself thought he could simply bribe her with ‘fortune in money’ then he had another think coming.
She sighed as loudly as she could, hoping Mammon would get the hint. To the surprise of exactly no one, he didn’t. So Emma rolled her eyes and patted the sofa. “Shut the door behind you.”
Grinning like a naughty schoolboy - which, Emma guessed, technically he was - he gently closed the door and promptly flopped down beside her. “So...?” Mammon prompted, waving one hand and looking at her expectantly.
Living in the House of Lamentation was frustrating at times; the six brothers - mysterious absent seventh and youngest brother excluded - had made little secret of the fact most of them - if not all - were very interested in eating her and/or trading for her soul. And these were the demons who wanted her to succeed at her task! She supposed it also annoyed her that they were considered objectively attractive men, a fact that they definitely knew given how certain members of their family bragged.
Emma was suddenly absolutely exhausted and so she responded by setting her homework aside and scooting over to snuggle up against him, resting her head on his shoulder tiredly. “I’ve been having nightmares,” she admitted quietly. Up until the ‘Incident’, the only bad dreams she’d had since arriving in the Devildom had been of being trapped somewhere, so isolated that she didn’t know if she merely couldn’t be found or if no one was looking for her, or worse, that no one had noticed she was gone at all. The theme itself wasn’t unprecedented, but the consistency was quite out of the ordinary.
Mammon almost froze in surprise; his human had always pried the demon's hands off, even when all he was trying to do was steer her safely through a crowd. That she was just as quick to shake free from his brothers and keep several inches distance from them made things only a tiny bit less unbearable. A very very small amount - he was her guardian; they had a pact, well so did Levi but the otaku didn’t matter and besides, he was Emma’s first - did that mean absolutely nothing?
Still, he wasted no time in questioning it, lifting his arm up to around her shoulders. “Nightmares? About what?” A lengthy pause as Mammon apparently indulged in a rare moment of self-reflection. “About me?” The next pause was far briefer. “About me eating ya?”
She snickered; Emma couldn’t help it, that he was so arrogant as to think she was still afraid of him was downright hilarious! “None of my dreams have ever involved you.” Yeah, it was rude, but he really did deserve to have his ego deflated from time to time. “No, it was about-” She trailed off; acknowledging the fear made it more real and Emma wanted it to stay right where it was, as just a nightmare; nightmares weren’t real so therefore it wasn’t real.
She knew that such dissociation was unhealthy, but still hoped that pretending it hadn’t happened would mean it actually hadn’t. Sadly, her pact with Leviathan was a constant reminder, one she couldn’t ignore. However it was that the demons at school managed to know without being told didn’t matter; their comments on it were enough to bring the memories to the forefront of her thoughts.
Sensing her hesitancy, he gave her shoulder an encouraging squeeze with a dazzling smile.
Shaking her head slightly, she filed off in a corner of her brain that underneath the cologne he smelled like a stack of freshly-printed bills - unsurprising, given Mammon’s affinity for wealth in all its forms. Even if his concern stemmed from still wanting to eat her - for some reason Emma felt that was only part of it, not even most - that didn’t make the concern any less real, did it? And what did it matter, anyways? The second-born already knew pretty much all of what had happened, and since she’d ordered him not to tell anyone about it, she could confide in him without worrying that word would spread. “-about the other night,” she finished.
Of course, that didn’t mean Mammon wouldn’t still judge her for it; everyone did keep saying he was a scumbag and, from what she’d witnessed so far, he absolutely was. She clarified, “You guys’s demon forms are pretty intimidating.” Emma was roughly their height - except Beelzebub’s, since literally everyone had to look up if they wanted to meet the youngest’s eyes - on a normal day, but when they lost their temper - or else wanted a more controlled greater use of their power - they grew quite a bit taller. Or at least, the only two she’d seen so far had.
“Ah,” he said noncommittally, gently rubbing her shoulder again. “Kind of wondered why you were still avoiding Levi when you could’ve just ordered him not t’ touch ya.”
She winced. “Was I really that obvious?” Emma wanted to pull away, to shake his hand off her, to do anything and everything that would show how much she rejected the idea of having been avoiding the otaku demon. But she hated lying, and lying to herself only ever did more harm than good. Put simply, it felt nice to let him hold her like this. Even if it wasn’t really ‘human’ contact - not something she could get unless she wanted to go and poke at Solomon, Ugh. - just leaning against someone so warm and solid was more than enough for now.
“Nah, someone’d have to be watchin' ya all the time to notice a pattern,” Mammon asserted confidently.
That wasn’t creepy in the slightest. “Then how did you catch it?” she asked, already knowing why but still mildly curious about how he’d phrase his response.
“Because I-!” The demon cut himself off abruptly and Emma tilted her head to stare through narrowed eyes suspiciously at the faintly blushing demon. “Because it’s my job to be watchin’ out for ya,” Mammon pointed at her with his free hand, “an’ I can hardly say I’m doing that if I let you get eaten by any of my no-good younger brothers, now can I?”
That still left one brother, the one who was completely calm and collected while simultaneously being an absolute unapologetic sadist, she noted with a touch of unease. To cover it up she shot back in mild reproach, “And also because then you wouldn’t get to eat me.”
“There’s that, too,” he said, smiling angelically. Well, supposedly he was one once. “Because while it felt great - no, felt amazing - finally getting you in my stomach, I barely got to have a taste of ya that time, no thanks to Beel,” the Avatar of Greed pouted.
Beel’s the reason I even let you in the first place! Sitting up just to smack him was too much work, Emma decided, plus if she then leaned back against the man it would totally spoil the effect. “What’s it gonna take to make you stop bringing this up?” She cut him off just as he was about to speak. “Actually, you know what? Nevermind, don’t answer that.”
While ordering him around was often funny, she didn’t particularly enjoy doing so. There was something that just felt wrong about it, the blistering tangle of rage clamoring for Revenge and not caring against whom so long as Pain and Humiliation were dealt, the same fury that had let to her assaulting him from an insultingly casual joke that even at the time she’d known was made in good humor; it made Emma feel less like... well, less like Emma. Yet she really did need him to shut up.
While demons were stronger than humans and had powers humans didn’t, those abilities didn’t seem to extend to their senses. And so the reason she needed Mammon to drop the subject was because even if none of them would be able to sense her emotions, Emma didn’t have absolute control over her facial expressions, let alone her involuntary reactions. She could probably get away with hitting him, ignoring him, or simply telling him to shut up - all completely precedented options - but if she wasn’t careful to do it exactly right, then it would attract definitely unwanted attention.
But what would it take to make him stop bringing it up? Commanding him wasn’t a palatable option, and neither was offering money as she barely had any - for while buying Mammon off might have worked, it would certainly take quite an astronomical sum - which really only left offering what she was trying to avoid in the first place. It wasn’t that she was incredibly opposed to being eaten, more that she found it a highly embarrassing experience. Embarrassing to have occurred, embarrassing to admit she’d finally felt relaxed for once, embarrassing to long for a sleep as restful as that night's had been...
Yes, he was being extremely pushy, but that was still far from ‘forceful’ and, for whatever inexplicable reason - over-inflated ego perhaps, or maybe wanting some of the validation that kept being denied the demon - Mammon seemed to legitimately want her to want to be eaten - specifically, for her to want to be eaten, and by him. They both knew he could just grab and swallow her whenever he wanted, but he hadn't. At all. Nor was he giving the impression that would change anytime soon.
It was such a little thing, but it meant a lot to her. Sure it was almost certainly an indication of his ego, but it was also consideration of her feelings on the matter. All of a sudden, Emma knew exactly what to say.
“How about we make a deal,” she ventured, watching him perk up immediately. “If you promise to stop bringing this up, then I promise I will give this some actual serious thought.” The demon looked far too cocky at her suggestion. “Let me make something crystal clear: that was not a ‘yes’,” she scolded, flicking the tip of his nose.
Mammon only grinned back and winked cheekily. “Wasn’t a ‘no’, either.”
She reached for her textbook and made as if to hit him with it. “Get out.”
“I’m already gone!” He was up off the sofa and out the door in a flash; if she’d blinked Emma might have thought he’d simply vanished from sight.
—————————————————–
Sure, she'd told Mammon she'd think it over and sure, there was more than one sleepless night remembering that he'd been actually pretty damn cozy, but Emma was still surprised at herself - she said it wasn't a 'yes', so why was she standing at the door to his room with a hand on the knob?
'Wasn't a 'no', either.'
Just because Mammon barged into her room all the time didn’t give her the right to do the same to him. Still, Emma tried the door. Unlocked. She opened it halfway and knocked loudly, wincing at the music blaring from his room. A panicked squawk was followed by the splintering of plastic - a hurled remote? game controller? - and the music abruptly stopped. Emma chuckled to herself - Guilty conscience? - and called out, “It’s just me, Mammon.”
“Oh, Emma?” Beneath the relief was simple, innocent happiness. As much as he denied, lied, and insulted her, Mammon couldn't help his true feelings shining through - it was both frustrating and endearing at the same time. "Come on in!"
Tempted to take the stairs two at a time, Emma limited herself to a brisk pace down them. She didn't want to seem eager. Am I sure I want to do this? Sure, he knows I didn't mind all that much, but once I've said I actually want to, there's no taking those words back.
"What'd'ja want?" he asked, sweeping aside a mangled controller before propping both feet jauntily on the clear coffee table.
“You know what I want.” Emma couldn’t bring herself to say it. Somehow admitting that she wanted to be eaten was less embarrassing than simply uttering the words by themselves.
"To be demon food?" Mammon practically flung himself out of his seat, eyes wide in his eager face.
Seems her guess was right; getting Mammon to drop the subject did nothing to stop him thinking about it. Glad I closed the door first. “Shut up.” She wasn’t sure it was possible for her face to get any redder. “I thought I told you not to call me that.”
“No, you just hit me and said ya didn’t like hearing it.” He crossed his arms, leaning against the back of the sofa. “So make me stop,” he said, mischievous grin turning unbelievably smug.
Emma ground her teeth, eyes narrowing in a deadpan expression. Be that way, then. She stared him wordlessly down before turning and climbing up the stairs. Pointedly leaving the area had been surprisingly effective on all the brothers, not just Mammon. It was an incredibly versatile gesture: fleeing a volatile situation, removing oneself before causing a scene, and - her favorite - 'I find your behavior unacceptable and your presence unpleasant'. If they chose to interpret it as a slap in the face, that was fine by her, as long as accusations of cowardice didn’t follow.
“Wha- huh- wait!” Mammon called out as she stomped out of his room.
Emma was going to ignore the loud crash she heard, until it was followed by a cry of, “Hey, I was just kidding!”
It sounded like he’d tripped over something. She turned around to see the demon standing in the doorway, slightly disheveled, trying his best to straighten his hair. Maybe you wouldn’t have fallen if you’d clean up your filthy room, she thought.
“It was a joke,” the demon said pleadingly, as he hung onto the doorknob with no small amount of desperation.
"It wasn't a funny one at all, then." Emma frowned, crossing her arms. But she had made her point clear, so she rolled her eyes and walked back into his room, following him down the stairs and scowling at how he'd perked up again at her leaning with forced casualness against the stairwell banister.
“What made ya change your mind?” he asked as he sauntered over to right the toppled chair.
Not quite sure how best to articulate her thoughts, she began slowly, “I just didn’t want to deal with all of,” Emma waved a hand in the air vaguely, “this for a few hours. And I thought-” she shot a meaningful glance at his abdomen before looking away, fighting a blush, “that hanging out in your stomach might help me decompress before I have to go and face reality again.”
“Can’t say I blame ya’ for wanting to spend some quality time with me.” Smirking broadly, Mammon pressed the white nails of one manicured hand against his chest as he preened, “I mean I am The Great Mammon, Avatar of Greed, the second most powerful demon in the Devildom, a real big shot; do you know what lesser demons would pay to get this sorta attention? And here I am givin' it t' ya for free!"
Rolling her eyes again with a quiet exasperated sigh, she corrected, "No, it’s because you're the only one who knows I don’t mind-" ‘being demon food’, the back of Emma’s mind supplied unhelpfully, “-this and, if you're willing to not be a total ass and tease me, I actually would like to be eaten by you." Her eyes narrowed as his lit up, and she raised a finger. "On one condition."
"What condition?" he asked skeptically.
"You do your damn homework." Was that their Devildom Law takehome quiz - due last Tuesday - she saw poking out of the massive pile on his desk?
Mammon's eyes narrowed further. "... Why?"
Oh this'll be fun. Emma smiled innocently, "Do you really want to know? Lucifer confused the hell out of Barbatos by telling me that I was supposed to be looking out for you." Hey, you asked...
He frowned, grumbling something she couldn't quite make out under his breath, apparently about his older brother from what little she did manage to catch.
“And I meant it when I said I don’t want to hear any teasing from you.” She could feel her face heating up and gritted her teeth again, focusing on how annoyed she was in order to clarify her thoughts. “This is so far already beyond ‘embarrassing’ that the distance is astronomical!”
"That's it?" Mammon clearly couldn't believe his good fortune, that Emma had laid out so few conditions. She nodded slowly, watching his throat bob with a swallow.
Mammon spoke the incantation, and she forced herself to keep looking him in the eye. That voice in the back of her head, the one that had been objecting to this idea the entire time, grew louder as she grew smaller. He's drooling just thinking about it, thinking about eating me. Intentional? Well, I'm not scared of you!
Now and again, Emma wondered about other people’s perspectives, whenever she was asked to retrieve something, or heard one of the many ‘jokes’ about her height. But that had never been more than a foot in either direction. The thought of perspective returned to her, currently standing only a couple inches tall; even the neatest of freaks could use a tiny stroll around whatever area they’d just cleaned.
She focused on that to quell the anxiety threatening to rise up at the sight of the undiluted greed tinting Mammon's beautiful sky blue eyes to a Sinful dandelion yellow, far beyond merely 'smug'. Emma wasn't stupid, she knew that the demon would be over the moon with joy should she not just agree but ask - without prompting, without bribery, without threat - to be 'demon food'.
His food.
His.
You really do need to be careful, she told herself, provoking not just one but now two Avatars with their Sins. "I'm half tempted to make you clean your room first," Emma said to stall for time, craning her head as the ground shook with his approach. 'You see, we demons can't resist temptation. When there's something we really want staring us in the face, we have to have it. That's simply how we are.' Okay, make that three Avatars, the oldest and thus most powerful.
The hungry smirk vanished instantly, replaced by petulant disappointment. "Aww, c'mon, that'd take forever! Past dinner time, even!" A crafty look stole back over his face, "Unless ya -"
"Not happening," she snickered, shaking her head good naturedly. "Alright fine, I take it back." Emma smiled and nodded at the crumpled boxes and discarded wrappings nearby. "But seriously though, it’s absolutely filthy in here."
Why did height matter so much? When she’d been full size - barely an inch shorter than the demon - she hadn’t been afraid despite his frequent threats as well as not having a pact with him. Yet now, Emma mused, with both a pact and Mammon’s outright pleading for permission to eat her, she felt fear.
Did height really make such a difference? Diavolo was much taller than her, but she didn’t have that same uneasy twisting in her gut when speaking to the Prince. The few inches gap between her and Lucifer actually helped when speaking to the Avatar of Pride, as Emma needed to tilt her head only slightly to look him in the eyes, a gesture that subconsciously boosts one's resolve - 'Keep your chin up', the saying went.
But she wasn't scared of him, of Mammon hurting her. Neither was she scared by the thought his brothers might find out. Then what?, Emma thought, watching the demon crouch down - practically kneeling, with one hand on the ground to support himself while the other gently scooped her up - What exactly about all this is so terrifying? It bothered her, not understanding her own emotional state.
There was only the minor flutter of fear as the ground fell away below her, the same feeling Emma got when standing near the edge of the R.A.D. rooftop. She trusted Mammon not to drop her, but that didn't mean being up so high wasn't still scary.
The human expected to be gently tipped into his mouth, but even after Mammon had stood fully upright, his hand kept lifting Emma higher in the air, and she suddenly realized what he planned to do.
Emma closed her eyes tightly, clinging to the demon's hand in terror, and screamed, "Aaaah! No no, Mammon, no! I hate heights, put me down put medownputmedow-!" She yelped again, eyes flying open as her flailing feet hit something, a soft weight wrapping around her hips in the same moment. Face to face - or rather, mouth to waist - with a triumphantly smirking demon. It was just like last time, stuck half-in-half-out of his mouth, though now the other way around.
Hesitantly loosening the death grip she had on his fingers, she bopped the tip of his nose with a fist, scowling to try and hide the blush. "You and I have very different ideas on what 'no teasing' means," Emma huffed. She could see his prominent canines - nearly as large as her own head - on either side of her torso past Mammon’s broad grin.
That grin stretched even wider as he winked saucily at her, slowly parting his teeth. Guh. She could see all the way to the back of his throat.
An overlarge finger gently poked at her head and hands, even as Mammon's tongue curled to pull her farther into his mouth. After ensuring she was well past his teeth, he carefully closed his jaws.
Emma suddenly felt nauseous. What the fuck is wrong with you!?, she asked herself, Why did you agree to this, ask for it!? Her limbs froze up, breaths coming in short, sharp bursts. Calm down, idiot, she told herself, you know he’s not going to hurt you; you’ve got a pact so you can just Order him to spit you out... if you’re a coward, that is. Mammon probably would even if she only asked... and then promptly complain, of course.
The demon's breath hissed past her and Emma bit down hard on her tongue to keep from whimpering in fear. Her mind was pulling in two directions, between Emotion and Logic, as it usually did before her panic attacks. No! Not here, not now!
She let out a startled hiss of her own, finding herself firmly pressed face up against the hard roof of his mouth. It was already difficult to fight that primal fear even before the memories of- of- ‘This is a ‘Game Over’ cutscene.’ -of Leviathan. Her hands shook, and then Emma heard that weird hiss again.
Was ‘hiss’ even the right word for it? It wasn’t sharp, more of a wet- of a mushy- Oh. She’d felt his tongue awkwardly shifting beneath her but had dismissed it as Mammon trying to figure out how to handle something so big in his mouth. Emma was still pinned against his hard palate, but the tip of the demon’s tongue was gently poking at her shoulders in deliberate circles.
Emma let out a slow breath, finally able to start relaxing. ‘Sssh’, that’s it. I understand now. Such solid touches to her arms, shoulders, and back could ground her, dragging herself back out of the negative headspace. She remembered how he'd rubbed her back reassuringly last time when she panicked. Mammon was trying to calm her down, apparently not wanting her scared of him - at least, not when being his 'food'.
She scrubbed at her face, trying to clear her own mouth off. “Alright, alright already,” Emma said with a smile, “Point taken.” How did you know to do that? Hearing a purr in response, she couldn’t help but chuckle good-naturedly. “Oh, shut up, you.”
The whole time Emma had spent planning, her mind had - somehow - skipped past this part. ‘I barely got to have a taste of you that time, no thanks to Beel.’ Of course he’d want to take his time tasting her. Emma felt stupid, only just now remembering that.
Now that she’d remembered, it was hard to un-remember. Emma forced the tension out of her body, trying to go limp despite how much she wanted to fold her arms around her, to curl into a ball. Panic will only hurt you, she insisted, squeezing her eyes closed and swallowing back a lump of dread; the thick muscle of Mammon's tongue had edged her arm loose and was deliberately brushing across her skin, letting out a happy “Mm, mm, mmm!” as he did so.
It doesn't hurt. This feels nice. She repeated the mantra over and over in her mind, focusing on the massaging pressure. You're safe, just relax. You agreed to let him enjoy this. Temperature was only half of why she chose to wear a t-shirt, after all.
It was a weird kind of ‘forgetting’ that she had to do; as long as the thought of ‘I’m in a mouth!’ stayed out of her head, Emma could remain calm and avoid slipping back into her panic state. Now all that remained was the lizard brain’s crying in terror, as it had been ever since arriving in the Devildom, easy enough to ignore by now.
That didn't mean she didn't still feel tiny flickers of anxiety each time she was gently leaned up against the demon’s teeth to swallow what saliva didn’t soak into her clothes. She knew they thought humans were a special treat, a delicacy, but c'mon, wasn't the absolute lake of drool a bit much?
Gradually, her breathing slowed to match his, a relaxed in-and-out that ruffled her damp clothing. I could get used to this, Emma realized in amazement. She certainly didn't plan to, but that was what she'd told herself last time, and now look where she was!
"H-hey, what a- ?" The woman wiggled, sputtering at the spit frothing up around her as Emma was once again pressed against his hard palate. Held in place, she barely moved, though her inner ear told her Mammon had tipped his head back.
She would have yelled at him for it, for making sure she dragged along his tongue all the way into his throat, if it didn't also result in additional time to psych herself up, to brace for being swallowed. At the last moment Emma pushed her arms up above her head so her bony elbows wouldn't be shoved painfully against her ribs again.
Gritting her teeth, the woman kept her breaths slow and even, timing them between Mammon's loud swallows and subsequent esophageal squeezing. She'd never felt claustrophobic before, no matter how cramped the space, so the alien feeling unnerved her; being stuck inside a throat was quite different from locked inside a closet.
Emma let out a quiet sigh of relief, gently slipping down fleshy walls to sit in a fold of stomach lining. She'd gotten what she wanted, overcoming both her reluctance to ask - to admit how badly she wanted to be eaten - and her fears that his quips about 'demon food' were more than a lighthearted inside joke.
"Thanks for not chokin' me this time," Mammon chuckled. "Seems ya enjoyed it, too, like I tol'ja you would!"
I wouldn’t call that quite ‘enjoyable’, but it was alright. She allowed herself a small smile, knowing he couldn’t see. “Not being upside-down: major improvement.” Emma tsked so he'd know she was only half serious in her scolding, "You'd better not have ruined my clothes, buddy."
“Hey, that's your fault! I knew you smelled better than any other human, but I didn’t think ya’d really taste that good!” Mammon was outright indignant. Demons sure are weird. “Can’t believe nobody’s attacked ya yet. Hah! I know!”
Specks of light flickered in the flesh in front of her, like mini stars flaring to life. She blinked a few times, wondering if she’d somehow hit her head without noticing. Nope, they weren’t going away. Emma reached out to gently poke one. It didn't feel any different. Strange.
"It's because they knew since Lucifer wouldn’t let me eat ya, then I wouldn’t let anyone else eat ya, neither!” Those weird lights flickered in and out, seemingly in time with his words, some more than others. “Because -” Her theory on the glow was confirmed with Mammon’s next sentence, “- it doesn’t matter how many pacts ya make, you’re still my human.” He jabbed at his stomach for emphasis, “Mine!”
Emma couldn’t help the spluttering laugh that escaped her; the Avatar of Greed’s stomach glittered like light reflecting off gold coins whenever his characteristic sin had ahold of him. It was somehow both cute and hilarious. “Pft, I’m not going to argue with ‘The Great Mammon’ on that; he'd know best, being my first and all,” she teased.
"And don't ya forget it!" He purred to himself briefly and she smirked; seemed material treasures weren't all the demon was greedy for; an offering of compliments was enough to keep him satisfied, albeit only for a moment.
Even so... Referring to him as her 'first' felt off - there was the obvious sexual innuendo that she hadn't yet gotten around to telling him she didn't appreciate - because of the whole 'demonic pact' thing, that a 'first' and then a 'second' implied that she was aiming for more. And she wasn't, not really, not for herself. Nobody - Lucifer, Simeon, nor anyone of any race - had commented on the effect a pact would have on her soul, so Emma hoped hers remained intact and untainted.
Well, no use worrying about things now, she had a nap to take. Her surroundings were almost like a hammock... a wet, slimy hammock. Emma shifted around, managing to lounge comfortably down the length of his stomach and letting out another happy sigh of quiet contentment. So comfortable...
She had just closed her eyes when she heard, “Did Lucifer really put you up to this?” echo doubtfully.
Emma frowned, trying to figure out why Mammon sounded so hurt. "No?" Why would he care why- Oh. Did he think she was only spending time with him because of his older brother's order? "He did actually tell Barbatos that, but nothing else." She wondered what it must be like, constantly paranoid of your own family, second-guessing any and all kindness extended to you. Of course he'd be skeptical, even I still can't believe I'm doing this.
But she was telling the truth about being stressed, an understatement of the century, with stress being merely the tip of the iceberg. Emma could admit she was stressed - because there was a Hell full of reasons - but the reasons Why were... tricky.
I wasn't even given five damn minutes warning before being dragged into literal Hell and told I have to survive a year of demon college where the other students want to eat me because I'm considered a delicacy in this Realm.
Most of these subjects I have no prior experience in and I'm terrified that I'm going to get buried in it and either be punished for not satisfying this dumb Exchange Program or else have a hysterical meltdown.
I realized you have a crush on me and I don't know how to handle this information; I don't know if it's just you being you or if it's related to pacts; I can't ask you because you're a total tsundere, but we'd both get teased if I asked someone else. It makes my ‘stick up for you when you’re being treated unfairly’ vow even more of a minefield; risking unintentionally leading you on and sending even more mockery your way because some ‘weak insignificant’ human nobody thinks you need defending.
Leviathan tried to kill me because his Sin dug its claws into him in a trivia contest and Lucifer told me that I should ‘try not to hold it against him’ because he's ‘not normally like that’.
Oh also your older brother has someone hidden in the attic, claiming to be a human and wanting me to make pacts with your entire family to set him free, except I'm 99.999% sure he's actually a demon who's probably locked up for a very good reason.
There was a faint connection to all of them, and it seemed a safe enough excuse. “Okay, I'll tell you why... but you’re just going to laugh at me,” she said, feeling tears prick at her eyes. Emma didn’t understand why she was starting to cry; she wasn’t sad or scared, she actually felt safe.
And therein lie the problem. From the moment she'd arrived in the Devildom, Emma had accepted that she was weaker, both in strength and non-existent magical ability. Allowing herself to be even further physically vulnerable like this was scary, risking inviting an attack. It's why prey animals hid illness and injury; predators culled the weakest in the herd first.
“Swear I won’t!” Mammon paused, thinking hard, before announcing- "You can hit me if I laugh!" -as if that solved everything.
Oh. Oh, that hurt. And the worst part of it was that even if Emma tried to explain why what he’d said was Wrong, Mammon still probably wouldn’t understand. He didn’t deserve that; none of them did! Well if the opportunity ever came up to slap Asmo - just once, only once, okay? - she wouldn’t pass on it.
"I don't like- I'm always being stared at, by everyone; they're always just Watching me..." Absent human-in-the-Devildom context, it sounded like such a nonsense reason to be stressed, a completely over the top reaction, even coming from someone suffering from mild agoraphobia. "And most of the time I can tell what they're thinking, and it's really unpleasant." At the dining table, with just the six demon brothers, their stares prompted feelings ranging from fear - Lucifer - to powerful unease - Beel, Asmo, Satan - to outright anger - Lucifer, Leviathan. "The least awful thoughts are twisted curiosity, at absolute best!"
Mammon hummed quietly to himself, mulling the human's words over. "You don’t like demons staring at you, 'specially the ones who want to take a bite out of you... so ya went and asked one a' the highest rankin' demons in the Devildom to eat you instead?"
"Well, kinda." It really does sound stupid when put that way. “You just called yourself a ‘higher ranking demon’, so I thought of it this way: even if someone figured out where I was and tried to rip you open to get me, how many pieces would you leave them in?” Emma had tried several times to imagine it - Mammon in a full-on murderous rage - and couldn’t quite. Even if his brain did lag a full minute behind his mouth, he still seemed to have a firm grip on his temper. But that anger even when he knew she was safe, where the 'threat' had been was someone that fighting with would cause family drama - if not an outright beating from Lucifer - was scary enough, so what would happen if it were directed at a random demon student...? “Or would the pieces be too small to count?”
She abruptly clamped her mouth shut, realizing she'd voiced feelings the woman wanted to keep hidden. It was the truth, but in her rambling Emma worried she'd come off too strong, as blatantly buttering him up, like she was trying to get something from him; using the demon for materialistic gain was the exact opposite of what she wanted. I think I effed it up... Dammit, Emma, why can't you think before you speak?
Everything around her shook as the muscular walls tensed, a wheezing gasp for air that the demon - quite unsuccessfully - tried to disguise as a cough.
"You said you weren't going to laugh at me!" What an asshole! Are you really that scummy as to laugh when I've just practically bared my soul to you?, Emma thought, fighting back a sniffle at the shriveling feeling in her chest. It felt like betrayal; she'd thought that if any demon would understand - though not necessarily empathize - it would be him. But no, the moment he got what he wanted - 'demon food', a willing snack - every ounce of respect Mammon had seemed to offered her vanished in an instant.
"I'm not laughing!" He sounded offended by her accusation, but then again that didn't mean much. "I just- I-" the Avatar floundered for words. "I'm... Surprised? Why would ya-"
Emma tilted her head, waiting for an explanation although she was beginning to understand. When they said 'your human' it came across as 'your burden', with even greater weight after Leviathan had talked them into their pact. Emma had wanted to complain - she didn't 'belong' to anyone, demon or otherwise, and she certainly wasn't helpless deadweight - but she'd known right away that it would be interpreted by everyone as an insult to Mammon, as 'I don't want to be associated with that scumbag' rather than 'I am my own distinct person'.
Was that a confused huff or an irritated sigh? "I know you knew I'm supposed to protect ya, 'cause Lucifer ordered me to and now we've got a pact, but I didn't think..." Mammon trailed off again. "... I didn't think you took me seriously when I said I don't want no one else steppin' in and savin' you, alright?"
"I knew you were being serious," Emma replied emphatically. The panic on his face when he'd slipped on his way to help, the irritated expression directed at Lucifer's back as the eldest flared out his pitch-black wings to stop the Envious demon's attack, even the delicate half-carry half-steer as Mammon and Beelzebub brought her back to the House: it left no doubt in the human's mind that he was concerned for her safety and that he wanted to be the one she relied on. 'I'm gonna be the one to save you, all right? Don't you forget that....And if I can't manage to save ya, then make sure you die, got it?!' Was this how demons expressed crushes? Maybe she should ask Asmo, give some excuse about having seen some rather odd flirting at RAD...
And so she'd kept her mouth shut even when she heard the possessive edge to 'my human'; if her guardian took it as a personal insult when anyone messed with her, so much for the better, right? If emphasizing 'my' was how Mammon turned the harassment around, how he processed the pointed digs - coping with an insult by changing it into a compliment - Emma didn't care enough to put a stop to it; Lord knows she'd done it herself a time or two as a child. It was harder and more mature than lashing out with fists or one's own hateful words, something that immediately raised her opinion of him; did Lucifer and the younger ones truly not see this positive trait in their 'scumbag' of a brother? Their loss, I guess...
"Heh, that's smart of ya, human. Doncha worry, The Great Mammon will keep you nice an' out of sight while he does his homework." No lights of any color. Was Greed the only sin that would cause his stomach to light up? If so, then did that mean the broth- No, I'd rather not go there.
Emma just smiled at his pleased tone and lifted the arm not currently supporting her head up to drag back and forth in wide swaths across the nearby stomach wall. She wanted to coax more of those content catlike purrs from him, making a mental note to read up on demon biology to figure out just how he was purring - truly purring, not the rolling hum humans make - in the first place. If demons could purr and hiss, could they roar, chuff, or make other noises typically found in wild animals? Sounded like an interesting afternoon read...
“Hey! Don’t go all quiet on me like that!”
"Tryin' take nap," Emma said drowsily. She'd slept in far less comfortable conditions, and if she could sneak in a bit of shuteye here, it wouldn't matter if she laid awake all night later on.
"Ya promised you'd help me with my assignments!"
"No, I said you could eat me if you sat down and did your homework." If it weren't for his voice being so loud, Emma could absolutely fall asleep here and now. Score!
"Well, since you're done already maybe I'll just go take a look at your papers." He might not have actually said ‘So there!’, but that tone couldn’t mean anything but.
“You can, if you want, but I'll make you spit me out because -" Emma repeated herself, "- I said you had to do your homework, not copy mine." She smirked at the familiar growl; the first time she’d heard the snarl, seen the angrily bared fangs, the human had felt fear twisting deep in her gut; this being was supposed to be the one protecting her? It hadn’t taken long for Emma to learn that while Mammon was the most open with his emotions - anger included - he held his temper better than any of his brothers, never once lashing out, even verbally.
“C’mon, mighty Avatar of Greed,” she teased, stretching out a foot to push at a nearby fold of flesh, “don’t tell me you never heard the saying ‘no such thing as a free lunch’?” He growled again and she laughed. "I'm willing to help, though I don't think you need it."
Mammon huffed in angry acceptance of his defeat. Emma waited until the shaking of him sitting at his desk to fade before she sat herself up with both hands folded behind her head.
"Lucifer's been nagging at me over that stupid Devildom Law crap, might as well get that over with."
The human beamed; it was working! Well, not the 'take a stomach nap' part but she wasn't going to write that off as a loss just yet. "The Law quiz? I only vaguely remember filling it out; what I remember more was referencing how I'd studied." Emma poked the wall again with her foot and smirked. "You do recall that little pact command and how it's letting you eat me safely, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, stop kickin' me already. Demon food or not, you're gonna give me heartburn." He pushed her leg back down, giving a gentle squeeze to drive home his point. "So settle down in there."
"'Kay." Even though she couldn't take the nap she sorely needed, the human could still relax in the mostly dark - aside from the glittering of Greed - stomach. The walls rose and fell around her as Mammon's diaphragm pushed and pulled each breath through his lungs, leaving her wondering if the demon's purr rumbling through not just the moist air but her body as well counted as ASMR; Emma had never quite understood the allure of such a thing.
Pretending to have trouble remembering the answers, she instead posed leading questions, prompting the demon to give his own solutions without realizing how little she was contributing. Though she hadn't done much tutoring, she was still aware of the underlying concept. 'Give a man a fish' and all that. More like 'give a demon a human', the woman thought with a wry smile.
Every once in awhile Emma felt him rubbing his stomach with an accompanying twinkle of lights, Mammon's quiet purr growing briefly louder before his hand pulled away, presumably to scribble down another answer.
She was hardly going to complain - hadn’t she tolerated it during Mammon’s search for the countercurse? - he just wanted reassurance that 'his' human really was still there, that Emma really truly wanted to spend time with the oft-maligned demon, the Avatar held most in contempt by nearly everyone.
"There!" Mammon shouted proudly, "Finished it! Aren't ya proud of The Great Mammon?"
"Woo hoo, way to go!" Emma patted both hands against the nearest surface. "But I know for a fact that you're not totally done, buddy. What else you got coming up?"
She heard a grumbling sigh, then everything collapsed around her. Struggling to orient herself, Emma tried to guess what was going on. Muffled rattles and slams, plus a profanity-laden stream of "Where did it go?" finally clued her in; Mammon had lunged forward, searching through his desk. For what, she didn't know.
"What's going on?" she asked, "Something happen?"
"Nah." Judging by how she was swaying around, Mammon had started up his spiral staircase. "Going to your room."
"What did I just say about copying my homework!?" Emma yelled, roughly pulling herself to her feet.
He growled, "Just getting my spare charger; D.D.D. died on me."
Why would he need his phone to-? "You don't have a calculator on hand?"
"No? That's what phones are for?"
"Ugh, fine then, just don't let on that I'm in here." Emma curled up, reasoning that if she wasn't touching the 'front' wall of his stomach she wouldn't make any visible distortion. Can't be too careful.
"Mammon? I thought you were hanging out with your human." Beel's voice rang out, and she jolted in shock.
"Yeah, she was practically beggin' for some attention-" Emma frowned, unable to do anything about the arrogant tone of his voice, "- so you know I had ta', since Lucifer put me in charge of her an' all."
"I don't see Emma with you."
"A'course not, she's-"
Emma kicked him as hard as she could, not daring to speak in case she was heard. You'll wish all I'd given you was heartburn if you give us away!
"-she's... Still in my room! Yeah! I'm helpin' her with somethin'!" It wasn't the best save, but hopefully it would be enough...
“Lemme go!" ...or not. "‘Ait! ‘Eel, ‘ha’re ya ‘oin’? U’ ‘e ‘own!”
Emma wanted to know what exactly the hell was going on out there, rattling her around like that.
“The hell you think you’re doin’, Beel? What was that for, pryin’ my mouth open an’ sniffin’?”
What... was that? A knot of dread coiled in her stomach as foreboding washed over the human.
"I can't believe you!" The words were snarled in a dull roar. Oh shit... "Lucifer told you to protect the human and you went and ate her instead! Don't play dumb, I can smell her on your breath. Do you have any idea what he's going to do to you for this? Because I don't!"
Mammon squawked indignantly, “Hey! She told me to, so there!”
Mortified, Emma jabbed her elbow into the nearby flesh and hissed, “Why’d you have to go telling him that!?”
“Because-” She felt a hand pressed against his stomach and really hoped it was Mammon’s, otherwise that would be beyond awkward. "- you should see the murderous expression on his face. Would ya mind holdin' still a second, Beel? Don’t think I’ve ever seen ya this mad over somethin' that didn't involve food.”
While making a snide comment about ‘is a photo really necessary’ was tempting, she realized that such a picture would tell her quite a lot - did the anger stem from jealousy that he hadn’t gotten to eat her, or simply because someone had eaten her? And there was something else Mammon had said, too - an important slip of the tongue - ‘over something that didn't involve food’. Emma wondered if Beelzebub had caught it, as it had been rather subtle. And unintentional it truly was, since the Avatar of Greed was practically incapable of thinking before he spoke, to her continued great amusement.
“You shrunk her.” Beelzebub’s distinctive voice was much louder, though the menace was gone, and she assumed the taller demon had crouched down to hear her better. Well, someone was bound to find out sooner or later. But man, what a way to be found out!
“It’s a spell we found in the library,” Emma said, careful to place special emphasis on the word ‘we’. “I’m fine, Beel, I really did ask him to do this.” Feeling like her mouth was filled with ash, she squeezed her eyes closed and forced the memory back as she added, “S’not the first time, either. Nobody else knows-” She really really really hoped Levi didn’t. “-and I don’t want them to, so please don’t tell anyone.”
“Hmm.” The noise was deeply thoughtful and Emma tried not to panic. What did he mean by that? What did ‘hmm’ mean!? “Now I know why you smelled like him earlier. And now I know what you’re doing out here, Mammon.”
“Uh-huh,” Mammon said doubtfully, “what am I doin' out here then?”
“Not going for the fridge,” he said perfectly happily, “because you’re already full of your human.”
Emma let out a quiet sigh of relief, sagging against the warm walls of Mammon’s stomach. Judging by the muffled snicker, he noticed. “Shut up, demon,” she muttered with no real venom. “Hey Beel?” the woman yelled.
Luckily he’d heard her. “Hmm?”
How could one person use the same word in so many different ways? “I think I heard Levi say something about Satan hiding ice cream in the back of the freezer as a joke.”
"Why w- No, nevermind. I'd wanted to start with something sweet, so thanks, Emma."
Good, now please leave.
"Aaand there Beel goes. Wasn't expectin' him to be so hostile over it all." Unless she was greatly mistaken, the sudden golden glow was shaped exactly like a handprint - his right, to be precise.
Emma couldn't keep a grin off her face. “You’re smiling, I can tell.” What a dork.
"Can’t have them all keep thinking you tamed me or anythin’; The Great Mammon does have a reputation to uphold.”
"The Great Mammon also has incomplete assignments waiting for him to return," she chided gently.
The only response was a much aggrieved sigh, followed some minutes later by a violent flop into his chair, its frame creaking in protest.
"C'mon, what did that poor piece of furniture ever do to you?" Emma teased. "The homework won't be that bad." She scooted around until she was situated roughly in the center of his stomach. "I'm right here, cheering you on, remember?"
Every time Mammon arrived at an answer on his own, she made sure to rub her hands across as much of the folded lining as Emma could possibly reach, throwing in from time to time an encouraging word or small nugget of praise.
She didn’t care how he was interpreting it - ‘rawr am scary demon who got to eat a human’, encouragement from someone he very clearly liked, or the simple pleasure of a full stomach after a good ‘meal’ - the poor guy only ever got the stick, never the carrot.
Mammon finally sat back with a weary groan. "There, that's everything overdue taken care of."
“See?” Emma said warmly, a touch of pride welling up. She held still as the demon kneaded at his stomach, mulling over whether it was worth the complaint. As he'd finished up his work, the interval between Greedy prods and rubs grew longer and longer until they'd stopped altogether.
"What did I tell you?" I knew he wasn’t stupid, the woman thought smugly, or lazy; he just needed the incentive to sit down and focus, and to believe that he was capable of even that much. “Do you want me to go over your work after dinner?” Still, I didn't think he'd actually get engrossed in his task...
“Nah, I think I got it.” Mammon sounded uncertain.
That chronic self-doubt could go jump off a cliff or bait Cerberus in his den. Or both! Why not both at once?
“Alright, I believe you.” If she’d been on the outside, Emma would have ruffled his hair and called him a good boy. Mammon was so cute when he got all flustered, and even she could tell he secretly enjoyed the attention, in his own contrary tsundere way.
She still wanted to hug him, though. Let's see, which way is front...? Standing up with a slight wobble, Emma mashed her face against the wall of flesh, outstretched arms pressing just as firmly.
“H-hey! What do you think you’re doing!?" Something gently shoved right back at her from the outside - probably his hand... maybe both hands? - so she leaned further into it. "Human!?”
She wished she could see his face - he had to be a blushy mess. Emma grinned mischievously, “It’s pretty hard to hug you at this size and from in here, but I'm doing my best."
"If you want to hug me so bad I'll let ya out so ya can- wait no, I want you to stay!"
Laughing quietly to herself, the woman allowed him to carefully push her backwards until she was all but sandwiched between the surfaces of Mammon's stomach. Between the pressure and frantically glittering golden walls, Emma assumed he'd wrapped his arms around himself and was tightly hugging himself at the faintest idea that she'd want to leave him.
"I mean I- I want- I don't want ya t'-"
Emma laughed again, loudly, so that he could hear, but not cruelly. You tsundere goofball, she thought fondly, and gently patted the flesh in front of her once he'd let go of his unconventional cuddle. "You're fine, I'm comfortable staying in here for now." It was weird, she hadn't minded that full body pressure of Mammon rubbing his stomach in firm circles around his snack his human her body; it was just a slightly less damp take on those frantic drool-laden licks. Freak.
"Really!?" The loud shout was a mix of hope and disbelief.
"Mm, yeah, I'd honestly been planning on taking a nap while you did your homework, but you kept bugging me. So if you'll shut up for awhile and wake me in time for supper," she said pseudo-reluctantly and drew out a hefty faked sigh as if she were doing him a big favor, "I guess I'll let you keep me in here a few more hours." Emma knew she'd chosen her words right as a golden glow lit up her small surroundings, flaring brightly before fizzling out like a firework. She really was going to have to talk to him about that; there wasn't a point in pretending to be bribed by Mammon, while actually secretly bribing him, if it was too bright to sleep.
Emma hoped Mammon wouldn't expect a 'study snack' every time he fell behind on his homework because she didn't want to make a habit out of this.
Stretching out with a gusty yawn, the human rolled onto her side and curled up, nestling against the soft flesh. It'd be nice if she had a blanket - not for warmth but for the weight she needed to sleep comfortably.
She narrowed her eyes, wondering why Mammon was still poking at his stomach, and then nodded in silent understanding; the moment the demon had figured out her exact position he'd gently rested his hand over her, with her back snuggled up against him. Emma nuzzled closer as best she could. It felt... right, somehow.
The walls glowed faintly as he started to purr again. The Avatar of Greed was just smug - or, she wondered, perhaps relieved - that he finally had her completely to himself, away from his brothers.
I'm glad Baptists don't do the whole Confession thing, was her last thought before slipping into the soft embrace of sleep. Even so, she doubted she'd ever be able to look a preacher in the eye after all this.

(2) Two Tsun-deres and a Yan-
Masterlist
Soft safe clean protective g/t vore, prey willing but unenthused. Mammon finally gets to make good on his threat promise to eat the MC.
Branches from the main plot of Ob//ey M//e! during Lesson 4-6 as Levi canonically states he’d been intending to eat MC up until a minute ago. Written from the viewpoint of my MC as a character study of sorts for the bois.

Grin growing even wider, a dangerous glint - not terribly unlike Beelzebub's when the glutton saw a stack of his favorite cheeseburgers - appeared in his eyes as he pointed to his stomach. "Unless I hide you in here, that is," he said, pulling his shirt up just enough to expose an inch of tan flesh - and what looked like the edge of a tattoo - in case she somehow missed his point.
She went to take a step back and froze. Emma couldn't show fear, that 'frightened tormented look' Solomon said demons loved. Mammon had literally just saved her after being eaten and now he was planning on eating her, too?! Her mind raced, trying to come up with a solution. "Unless I order you not to eat me," she countered. Yes, it wasn’t a very solid idea but it was all she had. The woman was very proud of how steady and assertive her voice was despite the terror screaming through her veins.
"And then Beel would eat you and you'd almost certainly die." Why did he sound so disappointed in her? Disappointed at the thought of not getting to eat her was to be expected, but why was Mammon acting like it was a personal fault of Emma's?
It stung, and now she had to win this argument for her own pride as well as the whole 'not wanting to die' thing. "I don't see how getting digested by your brother is any different than being digested by you." Emma was, honestly, thinking it through, compiling and sorting everything she objected to about it; if, somehow, that major hurdle was knocked out of the way, then she would consider it a viable - albeit extremely distasteful - option. As it was currently the only potentially viable option in sight, she could bite her pride back long enough to see if Mammon could solve that problematic hurdle.
"Well, you do have a pact with me, so you could just order me not to digest ya." He smiled, obviously pleased with his idea.
She, however, was very far from thrilled. "Pretty sure stomachs don't work that way, Mammon."
He wasn't fazed in the slightest. "Demons don't quite work the same way as you humans, an' as I just said 'you do have a pact with me'." The white-haired demon shook his head slowly, holding his hands up and shrugging. "Just 'cause you've only ordered me around a little so far doesn't mean that's all you can do with your pact."
That devilish grin reappeared, which was disturbingly cute on him despite it absolutely always meaning Big Trouble. "You didn't even order me not to hurt you, which was a pretty big mistake on your part." Mammon chuckled, "I'd been thinkin' of reminding you at some point just t’ see the ‘Oh shit!’ look on your face, but it was far more fun to just stay quiet and wait for that moment when you finally realized how much you messed up."
"And you changed your mind about bringing this up now because...?" It had actually occurred to her more than a few times, but Emma quickly learned that telling him not to do something was one of the best ways of encouraging him to try to do that something. Besides, Lucifer had ordered him not to, and supposedly he couldn't disobey that order either, so it would just be redundant. Oh, also then he'd grumble about being given orders by a 'thick, juicy hunk of meat' even more than he already did.
He absolutely beamed, "Because now if you order me not to harm you I’ll then have the perfect chance to eat you and still protect you at the same time!"
She shuddered, feeling the bile rise in her throat. "I very much do not want to be eaten. By any demon." Emma frowned sternly, pointing up at the man currently towering over her. "That includes you, buddy."
"Not a whole lotta choice you got there, human." He grinned broadly, like the cat who’d eaten the proverbial canary - or rather, who was about to. “Either Beel eats you, or I do.”
Emma could see the fangs in his mouth past the pleased smirk and grimaced. Sometimes she almost forgot they only appeared to be human.
Apparently mistaking her repulsed reaction as agreement, Mammon continued, "Beel may only be sixth-eldest but he's crazy fast, faster than Levi even, and waayyyy stronger than he looks. But most importantly," he reached forward and poked her nose before tousling her hair gently, "he doesn't have a pact with you."
She swatted at his finger angrily but it was already out of reach and he chuckled boyishly, dangling his ringed hand just over her head teasingly. So Emma folded her arms sulkily and huffed, pretending to ignore his taunting, "Ugh, fine, alright. Since I don't have any viable ideas-" All of hers had been evaluated and quickly discarded. Ordering him to fight his brother probably wouldn't go well; even if Mammon won she was pretty sure everything around them would get trashed and she'd be just as dead as if she'd been eaten, "-gonna have to figure out how to word that order so there's nothing I'm missing."
“Luckily for you-” he was way too happy with himself, hands on his hips in a proud stance, “-it’s in my best interests to help you out with that.” Of course it was - Mammon had literally groveled at Levi’s feet just to get his credit card back. Admittedly, it was the single thing he valued most in the three realms, but it proved he was absolutely willing to set his massive ego aside to get something if he wanted it badly enough. And, given how frequently he brought up eating her - complaining about not being allowed to, threatening to, and expressing a keen desire to - Mammon clearly wanted it very badly.
“First,” she held a finger up, just in case it wasn’t clear enough, “you may not have my soul.” Asmodeus could go and get F’ed, she absolutely did have a soul. The Avatar of Lust was probably just salty about being unable to mesmerize her. “Because it’s you and Levi’s own faults for entering into a pact with me under different terms.” Since Emma wasn’t actually out to be making pacts and thus risking her soul, she only had to be vigilant for those rogue ‘vulgar demons’ that disagreed with Diavolo’s dream as a result.
“I’m still the first demon you made a pact with, so as long as no one else gets your soul either, then that’s just fine with me!” He legitimately didn’t appear to be put off by this reminder. Huh, seemed like Mammon had resigned himself to being bound to a magic-less human... or was simply so ecstatic about finally getting to eat her that he was willing to overlook it.
“Next,” Emma continued ticking off on her fingers, “by neither action nor inaction may you cause nor permit harm to come to me regardless of the nature of the source or what form it may take for an unspecified duration of time - including but not limited to bodily processes both normal and irregular, which include but are not limited to biting or digestion - and, should all possible actions potentially cause harm, then the solution chosen should aim to minimize all detrimental effects.”
His eyebrows arched in mild amusement. “So much for you hating our Devildom Law course.”
Her lips pursed angrily, not liking even the possibility he was making a dig at her academic studies. The human’s marks were far from perfect, but she was fighting to stay in the upper quarter of her classes. It was near as much to satisfy her own pride as it was to ‘avoid disappointing Diavolo’; Lucifer practically radiated authority, such that a mere frown of disapproval carried the menacing weight of a lethal threat. His calmness when threatening to poison her for simply being curious about the attic was beyond eerie; some people only became more terrifying the quieter their voice was. “When you copied my homework, what grade did you get, again?”
Mammon just shrugged, wordlessly conceding the argument. Hah. Ironically, that assignment had been about contracts and their inherent problems, she remembered. “Third point is the final one for now: the terms of this compound order are subject to any change by myself at any point for any reason."
He was starting to tap his fingers impatiently. "Are you done yet?"
"I'm not missing anything, am I?" Emma was pretty sure he'd noticed she hadn't forbidden him from eating her again at some other point later on. The omission was deliberate; if it worked now then it would work in the future and she wouldn't have to worry about re-issuing the order. Not that she planned on it ever happening again, but the more contingency plans she had on hand the better.
"You'd better not have," he said, wincing in discomfort as her convoluted command set in, "I don't want to have to experience that again."
Neither do I. “Don't you dare let anyone else know I let you do this," she hissed emphatically, wadding up and setting aside the oversized handkerchief, "or about that Leviathan nightmare earlier." The greedy asshole wasn't going to let her live this down and even though she was pretty sure the command was airtight, he'd still do his damnedest to find a loophole. Fortunately the loophole would not be there if she was dead.
"Of course, hu- m-my my Master, Emma." He stuttered the words out against his will. She stuck her tongue out at him, happy to see the order to call her by name was still in effect.
Mammon grinned broadly, showing off every last fang in his mouth. "Heh heh heh, you suuure you want to be doin’ that? Because right now you’re just givin’ me ideas.” Eyes flicking over to the door, he sighed reluctantly, "Have to save those for some other time I guess."
The demon carefully picked her up using both hands and she immediately latched onto his thumb for support, trying not to shudder. I hate heights. Emma didn't care if he thought it was tacit agreement - she could object to a hated idea while still participating in said idea out of necessity.
"Hey," he studied her worried face, somewhat concerned, "this'll work, you'll be fine. I haven’t let you down yet, have I?" Yes, he absolutely had. Several times, in fact. Still, she almost believed him, until he licked his lips eagerly. "What?" Mammon said, doing an alarmingly talented impression of wide-eyed innocence, "It'd be a real shame if there was no chance of being allowed to eat you in the future."
Oddly enough, she felt reassured by this. Offended and royally pissed off, true, but reassured. Trusting a demon not to hurt her was taking a flying leap of faith, but ‘trusting’ a demon - specifically, an Avatar - to fully give into its signature vice... that was quite different. Drawing in a steadying breath, Emma forced herself to meet Mammon’s eyes, hoping he didn’t see the panic in her own.
“Not having second thoughts, are you?~” Though his head was tilted politely to accompany the pleasant tone, Mammon’s grin was just a little too feral for her comfort.
Emma couldn’t look at him anymore. “More like 'first-and-a-quarter' thoughts,” she replied, eyes squeezed tightly closed. Having run out of anger, the woman had nothing left to keep the fear at bay; he was still a demon after all! “I want you to just... hurry up and get it over with. Please,” she remembered to add; politeness was a virtue.
She felt the warm gust of air as he chuckled quietly, “Alright." Emma had come to terms with the idea of being eaten, but facing the reality of it was very different. She couldn't help flinching when her face hit the damp bumpy surface of his tongue, reflexively starting to push away and freezing again when her back collided with his teeth.
While Emma had seen first-hand that it was possible to literally force a demon's body to move against its will - regardless of said demon's feelings on the matter - simply saying 'you're not allowed to bite me' suddenly seemed woefully inadequate at the moment. She struggled to block it all out, to ignore what her senses were telling her; pretending she wasn’t letting a demon swallow her alive was the only way she could handle it actually happening.
Apparently noticing her unease, Mammon gently rubbed at her back with a finger... and then he promptly ruined the effect by closing his lips around her midsection and licking her. As yelling at him was not going to happen, and as her upper body was effectively trapped between tongue and palate, Emma attempted to make her displeasure known by kicking him. She hit something but wasn’t quite sure what - and hoped both that it had been his nose and that it had hurt - before he pinned her legs together. I thought I told you to hurry!
Luckily for it, it seemed Mammon had decided not to tease her any further. Though he was still running his tongue over her eagerly, she was being slid further into his mouth. By the time her head bumped into something soft - what she assumed was his uvula - barely any of Emma's body was left out in the open. She tried not to tense up in fear, worrying that it might wind up hurting either of them. Any moment now, he would-
Gulp.
And now she was being pulled as well as pushed, suddenly rethinking the whole ‘headfirst’ idea as the blood started to rush to Emma’s head and her body was forcibly bent as Mammon gave one final push to her feet and swallowed again. She twitched - more of a faint wriggle really, given the tight confines of his throat - not knowing what the loud crashes she heard were, but disliking the noise all the same.
He made a strangled choking sound and coughed, apparently pounding at his chest judging by the thudding and the sudden vibrations. "Ow, c’mon, hurry up and move, you," Mammon wheezed as quietly as he could.
All too soon, her head popped into a much larger space, the rest of her following until she’d spilled down into the second stomach in, what, under an hour? Emma shifted dizzily; trying to sit ‘up’ when she couldn’t see a thing, could barely get her bearings, was difficult enough normally, but since the irregular surfaces kept shaking with Mammon’s coughing fit it managed to be even harder.
“Ack, Beel, you trying to break down my door or somethin'?” he managed hoarsely.
Well, she had a ‘down’ from gravity, and now an approximation of ‘up’ from his voice. That left ‘out’... Listening intently, she spread her hands out, carefully pressing at the walls nearby. Not enough room to stretch out; it was kind of like a hammock compared to Levi's stomach, which was relatively the size of a walk-in closet.
“Sorry, you didn't answer at first and I thought you just hadn't heard me." Emma felt even worse at Beelzebub’s apologetic tone; she didn’t believe for even a moment he would intentionally hurt her, but the Avatar of Gluttony’s impulse control was essentially nonexistent when he was hungry.
"Why are you in my room? I thought you were looking for Emma." The flippant tone of his voice belied the tense stomach walls around her.
"I was," the redhead replied simply, "but then I caught her scent this way and thought maybe she was still with you. I don't forget the tasty-smelling ones that quickly," he added dreamily.
And speaking of... Emma cringed, huddling up as best she could into a ball with her hands over her ears at the loud rumbling roar. It came from 'out', not 'around', so it had to be Beel's stomach growling. Honestly, Mammon's seriously messed up idea was sounding less and less awful by the second.
"I'll let her know when I see her, if you've forgotten between now and breakfast." Mammon scoffed, “She probably just fell asleep somewhere after all that excitement, you know how weak humans are.”
“Tell her to sit beside me at breakfast so I can make sure she has the right things to eat," Beel said happily, "if we get her to eat enough, she'll hopefully be less fragile."
She heard Mammon sigh, "Always with the food, Beel. Don't worry, I'll tell her. Goodnight."
It couldn't have been more than a minute or two later, though it felt like an eternity, for Mammon to turn his attention back to the human in his stomach. "You're shaking!" He sounded concerned, more so than Emma had ever heard him before, at least when it came to her.
Of course I am, you big idiot! I'm scared! Biting back the insult, she grumbled, "This is disgusting and I'm mad at myself for not putting up more of a fight with you over this." She was also mad at herself for feeling relaxed, comfortable even, in the warm enclosed space. Not that Emma would ever tell him so, as it risked him thinking she’d enjoyed it, only giving him yet another reason to suggest it in the future.
She didn’t just hear him chuckle, she felt it rumbling through her whole body. “I almost wish you had, huma- h- ha- ack-” He choked on the words before sighing, “... Emma.” Resuming as if there had been no interruption, “I barely swallowed you in time as it was; you humans really do smell as good as you taste but Beel shouldn’t still have been able to smell you once you were in my mouth.”
She felt a firm pressure coming from the direction she’d discerned to be ‘out’ - was he seriously rubbing his stomach? Not unpleasant, per se, but still... Rude! Mammon continued wistfully, "I wonder how long you'd have been able to delay ending up in my stomach if you didn't order me to stop."
Emma put her head in her hands and groaned loudly. “I officially hate you now.”
"But you're not scared?" He sounded both hopeful and disappointed at the same time. Did the jerk want her to be afraid of him or not?
"No, I'm angry," she snapped, swinging a fist at the nearby wall. Ew, it's warm and squishy.
"You don't feel very tense, though." The warm squishy walls moved in again as Mammon pressed at his stomach more forcefully.
"I'm kinda..." She trailed off, embarrassed to admit it; the brothers really didn't need to know she had weaknesses on top of being human. "... Agoraphobic." Alarmed that he might choose to draw entirely the wrong conclusion, Emma quickly clarified with a sharp elbow jab, "That only means 'claustrophobia' isn't included in the long list of why I hate being in here!"
"Aww, because it sounded for a moment like ya didn't mind being eaten by The Great Mammon." He patted his stomach and Emma shoved back, not liking the thought of being pinned between gross stomach lining. "But as much as I'd love to brag about eating you I don't want th' others getting ideas; you are my human after all."
She'd never wanted to slap someone so badly in her entire life. It was so incredibly tempting that if - No, when. - she got back to normal size Emma would make sure to do so at the earliest possible moment. “You are using demeaning language right now and I do not like it.”
“How’s it demeaning?” How did he manage to sound simultaneously cocky and innocent? “Humans are demon food after all, just ask anyone. And since I ate you, and I'm a demon, that makes you demon food!”
Not for long. "If Beel's gone then let me out already!" She rapped impatiently - and soundlessly, but it was the gesture itself that mattered - on the nearest surface.
"No," Mammon chuckled smugly, "it's safer if you stay right where you are. What if Levi decides he wants seconds, or Beel sleepwalks following your scent?"
Emma bit down hard on her tongue, holding back a scream of frustration. Why did what she wanted have to be the least logical course of action? Why did he have to be right!? Not even Levi had been able to catch him unaware when going after that Seraphina statue. "Fine," she ground out. The conversation about the statue reminded her of something. "But keep your damn clothes on; Levi told me you sleep naked and I don't want this to be any more awkward than it already is."
"Are you still mad at me?" The demon sounded wounded.
Emma tilted her head for a moment, mulling it over. He was such a jerk, but she actually did enjoy spending time with him regardless; Mammon was funny, even if he didn't really mean to be. Arrogant, greedy to a fault, and more than merely a little scummy, but still fun to talk to. And since he was technically currently working on protecting her until she got back to normal sized... “Yup, still mad. Maybe not quite as much, though.”
Plus there was no way in Hell - Literally, she thought grumpily - that she'd try and command Leviathan to protect her. Stupid, that a weaker - relatively speaking, as he was still a member of the student council like his brothers - ultra-reclusive demon who hadn’t threatened her once up until she started to show interest in The Shadow Lords managed to scare her more than the one who’d been constantly threatening to eat her all along!
Everything went sideways and she grumbled under her breath. Seems he'd laid down. Mammon’s voice intruded in on her thoughts, "How is it in there?"
"I'm trying to pick off your dried-on saliva and not having much luck." What she wouldn't give for a cold shower right now... Oh and a full gallon of heavily perfumed soap, like the kind she knew Asmodeus had. Maybe she'd ask him someday, provided he didn't decide to be a perv about it again.
"Just spit and nothing else?" Mammon asked happily.
She froze with her hand halfway to her face, blinking in surprise. Emma was pretty much dry - save for a few unfortunate spots of her clothes - and she didn't think her hands had picked up anything when shoving back at his stomach lining.
Shooting to her feet and steadying herself with a hand on opposite walls, the human cautiously poked and prodded at them, ignoring the demon's giggled comment of "That tickles."
"No," she said stunned by the realization, "it's all dry in here, no secretions or anything." Had Emma's subconscious picked up on the lack of danger so soon? She immediately felt a lot better about having felt comfortable at first.
“Good!” he exclaimed triumphantly, “that means I was right and you're perfectly safe.” He prodded gently at his stomach after a moment. “So now you’re sulking just to sulk.”
“Yes. I am.” Emma didn’t care that he enjoyed annoying her and thus would undoubtedly be amused by her very petulant tone. “Already told you I feel disgusting in here. And I’m also cranky because-” Say it, she told herself, it didn’t seem fair to tell him not to lie to her if she then went and lied to him about relatively minor things. “-because ‘thank you, Mammon’.”
“What was that?~” the demon trilled. She couldn’t see his face, obviously, but the woman was positive he’d cupped his ear and likely had that goofy grin on his face again.
Feeling her face heat up, she forced out through gritted teeth, “You heard me.”
“Mmm, no, pretty sure I did~n’t." Mammon was clearly enjoying this far more than she found comfortable.
Yup, definitely going to hit him. For one, he couldn’t hit her back - though she almost wanted to see him try - but also because sticking up for herself was important, as Solomon had so clearly stated. Though, for some reason, such defiance tended to amuse them. For the life of her, Emma couldn’t understand why, for even Lucifer had laughed when she’d refused to stop trying to investigate the attic. Oh, and hadn’t the Avatar of Pride also claimed Mammon was a masochist to boot? If so, then the idiot would probably enjoy it. What would even be the point of hitting someone if it didn’t piss them off? It would make me feel better...
"Then you'd better pay attention because I am not repeating myself a second time," she snapped, "I said 'thank you'." And Emma really meant it. She was still alive and, though rather humiliated, far better off than she knew she could have been. Raising a hesitant hand, she reached out and pressed it against the wall in front of her, gently rubbing in a circle.
The air vibrated with a nearly subsonic rumble. It didn't sound like a stomach growl - come to think of it, she hadn't heard any of the noises she'd expected to come from a stomach, only his heartbeat and breathing - but it still sounded vaguely familiar. Is he... purring!? Hmm. She shifted in place so that both of her hands could rub at the lining from where she lay. The vibration felt nice, so Emma supposed she would consider it as demonstrating that she was indeed grateful; she couldn't say the words, could barely think the words, but thanks were owed.
She sighed quietly to herself; if Emma's insomnia was bad enough in an actual nice bed, then how was she supposed to fall asleep in- in here? What she wouldn't give for a blanket; not that she needed it, the air in his stomach was almost too warm. Her eyes narrowed at what was undoubtedly a snore coming from nearby.
Great, yet another obstacle on her journey to dreamland. I should at least try to sleep. And sleep she did.

I really like your TTDAAY series. What was the reaction of the other brothers to... «What happened between Emma, Mammon and Levi»?
In the 'mainline' Shall We Vore stories, Mammon was the only one to eat Emma prior to the earliest story I'm kinda handwaving things because the only idea I got is one someone else used.
In TTDaaY Mammon is punished despite Emma's insistence that he'd done nothing wrong - which is why she was so adamant when talking to Beel both times and roughly half of why she wanted to keep it a secret - and Leviathan gets punished as well; Lucifer excused the trivia quiz freakout because he understands reacting with anger in the heat of the moment (chapter 6's murder attempt had happened by the time the 'Full Story' came to light) but something premeditated like that? Yeah no, where'd he put that rope?
—————————————————–
The brothers were threatened to be beaten to within an inch of their lives, in a terrifying diatribe that made Satan's "A Living Landmine" rant look like "I'm telling my daddy on you!". Physical harm and soul snatching aren't the only things that would cause the Program to fail; Lucifer must also alleviate her psychological distress, forewarned by her medical records HIPAA? is that an exotic Earth animal? :D When can Dia meet one, he'd like to pet it!.
Anyway there'd been a fair amount of jealousy, except for Lucifer because he doesn't think human flesh tastes good, and Satan because he's only interested in an intellectual study: Levi being Levi, Asmo mistakenly thinking it was her kink, and Beel because "but but but I thought we weren't allowed to eat that human :(". This is also prior to Lessons 13 to 16, so Belphie finds out last/much later it wouldn't have been as satisfying a death and he's too hesitant to ask given how she won't tell him what's required in order to accept his apology.

Hey! I really like your shall we vore series. I was wondering, do you think Emma would ever get eaten either willingly or unwillingly by any of the other brothers?
Thank you for the question!
"Yes. :) " The answer lies in pacts.
In TTDaaY there is only one chapter left, set during/after MC's stay in Beel's room, and as there's no pact at that point things are quite tense. The Avatar of Gluttony knows she wouldn't mind 'being demon food', and Celestial Realm help Emma should the other brothers discover she's trash; there is not yet an emotional connection between her and them.
Needless to say, pacts are an important theme throughout my SWV AU, not just that piece.
I wanted to post my Leviaday vore fic in time for his birthday but plans went awry; my estimation of project completion dates is a constant shot in the dark.
Tumblr media
I also have one for Beel and one for Satan/Belphie plotted out that will be posted afterwards. (I only work on one piece per universe at a time to fight burnout.)
IMPORTANT NOTE
(edited upon feedback)
I do not mind "inspiring" others, but I would prefer that if you're directly copying from me that you give me credit.

(3) Two Tsun-deres and a Yan-
Masterlist
Shorter piece, wrapping up the vore (soft safe clean protective g/t) scene from part 2.
Branches from the main plot of Ob//ey M//e! during Lesson 4-6 as Levi canonically states he’d been intending to eat MC up until a minute ago. Written from the viewpoint of my MC as a character study of sorts for the bois.

—————————————————–
Emma was awakened by an odd sort of prodding weight. Opening her eyes blearily, she waited for her sight to adjust. But it didn’t; everything was still dark. Why can’t I see anything?
“Hey, you awake in there yet, human?” The voice - Mammon’s - was a lot louder than his normal, and that was saying something.
Oh, right. “Y’ snore,” she mumbled groggily, remembering the previous night. What even time is it?
“I do not!” The demon sounded highly offended.
Coffee. I would love some coffee. Except the only way to get it was... Yeahhhh no. “Wha’s the plan t’ get me back t' normal size?” Emma asked, scrubbing at her eyes to try and force herself awake. She’d slept... adequately, given the circumstances, as her insomnia hadn’t shown itself at all.
“I think everyone’s out doing their thing. Well, not Levi, duh.” He yawned and apparently sat up, judging from how she fell over against what had previously been ‘wall’. She chose to ignore the insulting pressure of Mammon gently rubbing at his stomach, instead idly fantasizing about smacking the demon upside the head. “So nobody will get the wrong opinion seeing me in the library."
"You know, it'll go a whole lot faster if we're both looking through books," she muttered. Emma knew he'd heard her, and was just choosing not to respond. Still grumbling internally, the woman shifted around to try and find a comfortable and secure spot to sit.
Emma spent the next uncountable minutes waffling between anger and fear. It was stupid to be afraid, she knew, because since she hadn’t died in her sleep overnight it was unlikely Emma would die anytime soon. Her anger was just a defense mechanism, fighting the illogical panic - a demon had eaten her; she had let that demon eat her, practically ordering him to in fact; rather than make a fuss over it all, she was leaning patiently against a soft section of stomach lining, putting up with the occasional firm press of Mammon's hand over his stomach as the demon reassured himself Emma was still okay.
She tried to tell herself that it made sense he didn't just ask how she was doing; Mammon talking to no one and not to Goldie typically meant he was attempting to steal something so that would draw disastrous attention, and when whoever-it-was realized he was talking to his stomach - or rather, the contents of his stomach... it depended on who found them.
But it wouldn’t end well; even if Emma herself was unaffected, she didn’t want him to be punished for it, punished for helping her, for saving her. They already beat him for even the most minor of things, and she shuddered to think of what Lucifer would do to him for this.
With Emma functionally blind, she couldn’t ask Mammon how his search was going, for the exact same reason. So she just had to sit there, sit and listen to him hum that stupid catchy song, sit and wait. She knew that it was necessary, and she understood that demons thought humans were a delicacy, but did he have to sound so damned pleased by all of this?
Emma was startled out of her reverie by a loud slam, followed by a few more almost as loud. She recognized that sound - dropping a stack of books on a desk. She cringed, able to only imagine the damage it had done to their bindings.
"Alright, hold on."
Everything contracted around her, fighting gravity to force her back up out of his stomach. It had almost been worse than being swallowed in the first place; only the thought that it meant 'fresh air' - that it meant 'out' - made it bearable.
She squinted at the bright light, unable to make out anything more than blobs of color. The light dimmed, itself taking on a new hue, and what felt like rough fabric scraped at her.
Emma flailed her hands at the fabric, grumbling loudly but wordlessly. She could towel her own self off, dammit! Thankfully, Mammon took the hint and set her down. Vigorously drying her hair, the woman wrapped what turned out to be the same handkerchief from last night around herself, rubbing her arms to both dry and warm them.
Emma wanted to take a bath almost before going back to normal, despite the fact she was currently roughly the size of a bar of soap. “So what’d you get?”
“Weren’t many,” Mammon hesitated, shooting the human a brief look of concern before staring intently at the toppled book stack himself. “You can’t go to RAD like this, and if I miss any more days this semester, Lucifer will string me up the whole weekend.” He swore under his breath, mixing foul imprecations with words like ‘Levi’ and ‘damned otaku’.
I hadn’t even thought that far, Emma realized in a panic. Walking forward, she tugged on the edge of a small book so that it fell halfway to the desk, propped up by the stack.
Mammon absent-mindedly reached over, flipping the cover open and making a minor adjustment for stability.
Emma was on her third slim spell book when she glanced over to Mammon, who’d suddenly gone very quiet. His eyebrows had shot up, studying the current page raptly. It couldn’t be some sort of curse; she’d been reassured that there weren’t any cursed books in the main part of the House.
"Did you find something?" Emma asked, trying to look. No dice, the book was too thick for her to see over.
“No, nothin',” he replied breezily, slowly closing the book and setting it off to the side.
“Mammon,” she said in a low warning tone, the odd taste-buzz of Power coating her tongue, “show. Me. What. You. Found.” Emma hated seeing that face, the one Mammon made whenever she forced himself to do something he absolutely didn’t want to. But she liked the face he made upon seeing... whatever it was in the book that he’d seen, even less.
Pained expression on his face, the demon slid the book over and fanned it open to the right page. Emma scanned it quickly. She couldn't read the spell itself but the annotation was in English, describing how it could shrink living creatures by various orders of magnitude.
You sneaky asshole, she thought. Rather than point out she knew exactly why he'd want to know the original spell - yup, he'd caught the omission in her Order from the night before - she observed, "Looks like what Levi must have used then, but it doesn't say how to reverse the effects."
"No, but there is a reference to a page in the counterspell section." Mammon took the book back and flipped through the pages. "Found it! Right here." He pointed to it.
Oh thank goodness. Emma sat down wearily. It had only taken a few hours. "I'm really tired of being this size."
"I'm not!" he grinned. The demon relished being blatantly taller than her for once.
She stuck her tongue out at him.
Mammon smirked back. "Do you really want to go again? It is almost lunchtime."
Emma narrowed her eyes in exasperation. "Just say the stupid counterspell already," she said, making sure to sit on the edge of the desk.
He rolled his eyes and sighed, muttering out the charm.
She was so happy to see everything at its proper size that Emma pushed off the desk, ignoring the lingering dizziness...
...and promptly tipped over, and would have fallen if Mammon hadn't caught and steadied her. She accepted the help getting back to her feet reluctantly and fussed with her rumpled clothes.
"Oh, right, before I forget-" When she met his eyes the demon grinned again, "Beel wanted me to tell you he was lookin' for ya."
Her fist lashed out, slugging him in the shoulder without actually deciding to do so. Ow, ow, ooh bad idea. Emma hugged her arm to her chest and massaged her wrist, as her impulsive act had defaulted to her injured side.
"The hell was that for!?" Mammon yelped, utterly flabbergasted.
"You called me 'demon food'," she said simply, "and I told you I didn't appreciate it." Emma felt terrible for punching him, but she couldn't exactly take it back now.
"You didn't have to hit me," he rubbed gingerly at his arm with the pout of a kicked puppy.
No, but I wanted to. "And you didn't have to lick me, but you did anyway," she indicated her crusty shirt as evidence. His own clothes were the same as yesterday, and definitely looked slept in, so that was good.
"No," Mammon admitted with a zero-regrets smirk, "but there's no way I'd pass such an irresistible chance up."
Emma scowled at him and gestured to the table. "Would you please put those back, then? You know where you got 'em and I don't know the cataloguing system." Shower. She needed a shower in the worst way.
Not waiting for an answer, Emma marched down the hall to Leviathan's room, banging on the door - with the safe hand this time. "Hey, Levi! I know you've got my D.D.D. in there so give it back!" Don't show fear. She couldn't let him know the previous night still haunted her. Anger. Turn the fear into anger.
"That was quick," the Avatar of Envy smirked, cracking the door open and looking her up and down. "Did you miss me that much?"
"Give. Me. My. Phone," she spat, unsure if the acrid taste in the back of her mouth was from giving an Order or just all the pent up anger and fear, "then go back to your stupid game for all I care." Emma snatched it and stormed into her room, slamming the door perhaps a little harder than she should have.
The woman scrubbed again at her eyes, wiping the tears away before they could even form. She was so angry. I can't let Levi know he got to me. She hadn’t intended to Order him around, it just came out that way. But neither could she bear anyone finding out she didn't particularly mind when Mammon had eaten her, including Mammon himself.
Her wrist ached and she groaned; there was one more thing Emma had to do before she could wash the nightmare away.
Emma
//Sorry for hitting you.//
//I mean you did ask for it and all, what with the 'demon food' comments.//
//But I still shouldn't've done that.//
I'm better than that, she thought. Standing up for yourself is one thing, but this? No. Even if the toxic behavior didn't get her killed, Emma wouldn't let herself go down that slippery slope. She refused to.
Emma
//Apologizing in person would be better, but I couldn't wait to get out of those clothes.//
Her face flushed when she realized the possible implications of what she'd just sent. Can't take it back now, that check mark had appeared. Worried and embarrassed, she saw the typing bubble flash a few times.
Mammon
//Whatta ya’ apologizin’ for? Didja think that punch actually hurt?//
//I barely felt it at all, even!//
//So don't worry about THE Mammon, human.//
//If you needed a fresh change of clothes you could have just asked.//
//😉//
Hmm. The demon had accepted her apology, but it still didn’t seem like it was enough. Emma resolved to start treating him much better from now on. But how to go about it? If she was just straight up ‘nice’, he’d be suspicious, and understandably so, which would make the whole thing moot. His brothers might be suspicious as well, and treat Mammon even worse based on their own assorted assumptions.
Emma
//I'd rather not risk your brothers drawing the wrong conclusion about last night.//
—————————————————–
Having showered and changed into fresh clothes made Emma feel like new again, almost as if that morning and the previous night hadn’t happened! Of course, denial wasn’t healthy and she couldn’t forget the lessons contained within her memories. So she’d only act like nothing had happened.
When she walked into the dining room, she quickly tallied up everyone - Beel was on his who-knew-how-many-th plate, Satan diagonally across from him, Asmodeus beside Satan, and Mammon in the corner by himself, no Levi - good - and no Lucifer - irrelevant. Emma plopped herself down in the seat next to Beel, careful not to look at Mammon, and started serving herself.
On the one hand, Beel considered anything on her plate to be fair game. But on the other, he had longer arms and pulled anything he could reach closer to his own plate to make getting seconds - and thirds, and fourths, and so on - easier, which meant closer to Emma’s plate as well.
She was famished, filling her plate almost as fast as Beel had his, though she took her time, chewing everything thoroughly. At some point she’d missed Lucifer taking the seat at the head of the table, but there was still no sign of Levi, which Emma was deeply thankful for. But then Beelzebub paused with his fork halfway to his mouth and turned to sniff at Emma’s hair.
What the hell? She leaned away, eyeing him skeptically. The woman had taken three consecutive showers, not feeling truly clean until midway through the third. Currently she was not in the mood to hear that she smelled tasty again.
He scrunched his face up in confusion. “Why do you smell like Mammon?”
All conversation at the table abruptly ceased. Emma felt the blood drain from her face. Everyone was looking at her intently, Asmodeus most of all. “The two of you did miss breakfast,” the Avatar of Lust observed with relish, “a meal I don’t think you’ve ever skipped, Emma.”
Detecting lies might have been Diavolo’s ability, rather than any of the brothers’, but Lucifer himself had observed several times how poor a liar she was. Fortunately, she’d anticipated something would be said and had prepared accordingly. “Fell asleep in his room last night after trying to help him with a maths assignment,” Emma said dryly, “key word ‘trying’.” The lie had a few tiny grains of truth to make it more believable; maths was her best subject and one of Mammon’s poorest.
“And where did you sleep? Or perhaps should I say-” Asmodeus smirked languidly, head propped up on his laced fingers, “-how did you sleep.”
Gross! Emma had been sure she'd avoided that line of questioning. Seems it was time to fall back on her other lying trick, ‘technical truths’. “Passed out on the couch and woke up on the floor, so not well at all.” She shot a disgusted scowl across to Mammon - who wasn’t even pretending to hide his own knowing smirk, the rotten bastard - attempting to deflect and redirect the attention back over to him. “Your room is even filthier than I thought if that was enough to make me smell like you.”
‘Technically’ every statement was true: she did sleep on a floor in his room, she didn’t sleep very well, and his room was indeed dirty. The trick was in misleading them into assuming that since 'on floor' was tied to 'slept poorly' then 'dirty room' was not only related to ‘slept poorly’ but was the cause of ‘slept poorly’. So long as she never outright stated that all three were linked, it was not a lie; permitting them to infer incorrectly was not a lie and was thus their fault for not knowing the truth.
“Pity,” Asmodeus said, “I guess he’s just not your type. Then which of us are, I do wonder.”
Staring him down, Emma stuck her tongue out petulantly. It was getting to be an old move, but she didn’t know any other way to convey her disdain at childish antics. Like hell she’d ever tell him! She heard Mammon chuckle quietly and flicked her eyes over to glare at him again. ‘Do you really want to go again? It is almost lunchtime.’ She knew he was thinking it, too. If the Avatar of Greed so much as breathed a word... No. The human forced her breathing to even out; there was nothing to be done for it.
Seeing Beel reach for her plate, she quickly passed him the bowl on the other side of it, hearing a muffled “S’anks,” in return. Everyone else had resumed eating, Lucifer with only a raised eyebrow, but Emma could still see Satan watching her closely. You know what?, she thought, I don’t even care anymore. She didn’t know what the Avatar of Wrath’s deal was, but it wasn’t important.

(1) Two Tsun-deres and a Yan-
Masterlist
I must begin with a formal apology to Asmo stans and Levi stans - Asmo is in the Horny Bin(tm) because I’m incapable of doing his surprisingly complex character justice, and vore brain latched onto “make Levi the yandere source of conflict” despite all my protests. Going to be posting one chapter every week or two.
Soft safe clean g/t vore, initial vore accidentally implied by pred going to be fatal due to poor word choice
Branches from the main plot of Ob//ey M//e! during Lesson 4-6 as Levi canonically states he’d been intending to eat MC up until a minute ago. Written from the viewpoint of my MC as a character study of sorts for the bois.

-----------------------------------------------------
Trying to ignore her still-twinging wrist - when she'd attempted to lighten the mood by joking that she could order Mammon to wrap her wrist better he'd just glowered back and gave the bandage a sharp tug - Emma fought to keep a grin off her face. She didn't want Levi to think she was gloating. While it was arguably a draw, she'd successfully managed to get the Avatar of Envy to wig out, which meant she'd won. Now he'd have to make a pact with her so she could get that exclusive TSL soundtrack from him, and then...
And then she could go upstairs to the attic, to find out whoever was calling, whatever was pulling her there. No, that was why she was grinning. Reaching to open the door, Emma paused and switched hands. Stupid sprained wrist. Well, that’s what one gets for choosing to deliberately piss off a demon.
"So, do you know why I called you here?", Leviathan asked when she met him in the middle of the planetarium.
Several responses came to mind - ranging from cocky to demeaning - but Emma went with a friendly smile, an extended hand, and a, "Let's patch things up between us."
Ignoring the outstretched hand, he threw back his head and laughed, jostling the colorful Heats™ headphones around his neck. “In order to patch things up we would’ve had to have been on good terms to begin with, wouldn’t we?”
Ooh, harsh. Emma was fairly certain that a normal person would consider the favor she’d done him as some degree of ‘on good terms’, but given that Levi was both otaku and demon... It simultaneously confused and annoyed the woman, how some of humanity’s cultural norms were identical to those found in the Devildom, while others would be met with statements like ‘I am a demon after all’; simply infuriating, as she could never tell which category any given circumstance would fall into.
Shrugging, she made a vague gesture with her hand before stuffing it casually into a pocket as if she hadn't noticed the refusal. “If you didn’t call me here to smooth things over, then what?” Maybe it was just due to being an otaku... “If you wanted to rant some more about how I’m not a ‘true’ TSL fan, you could’a done that over the phone.” And Emma would have listened to - or read - it, feeling like she owed it to him for cheating.
"No," he said with an unfriendly smirk, "if I took you out of the picture by eating you, that would leave me as the sole king of all TSL mega fans, right?"
She could feel her pulse throbbing in her veins, loud in her ears, and Emma desperately hoped it wasn't noticeable to him. Several of the brothers had warned her of the many different dangers from demons in the Devildom - trying to collect 'pretty' souls, killing her, demanding her soul as payment in a pact, even potentially eating her - and though she'd overheard casual comments about them doing exactly that, it was Beel and Mammon who had been the brothers threatening to eat her, while the danger from Levi had been merely him losing control and just outright killing her.
Which, now that she thought about it, the Avatar of Envy almost had. Even though she'd asked the next-older to help her - ‘run or die’ weren’t the only options after all, now that she had a pact with the second-most powerful of the Avatar brothers - he’d managed to slip and it had taken the oldest of all the brothers - who, ironically, she was attempting to bypass with this stunt - to prevent the demon from killing her.
Maybe I should run, Emma realized belatedly. She'd closed - but not locked - the door and so all she had to do was get out the door and even if he pursued her Levi would be spotted and she'd be s-
Emma yelped as she sprawled out on the floor. What the hell had she tripped over? She’d chosen a path without chair, coffee table, or even ottoman, and the public areas were kept tidy as a general rule. She managed to roll herself over, staring in confusion at her ankles. Correction: at what was wrapped around her ankles. Some kind of scaly lasso?
But then it moved in a decidedly unropelike fashion and the human realized what it was - the tail of Levi's demon form. But why does it look so bi- Oh, shit.
He wasn't very big, she was just very small. Well, he was still kind of bigger than normal, due to being in his demon form again, but that difference was relatively minor at present. The tail lifted her into the air and, with a graceful little flip, held her upright by winding around her waist.
"The hell are you doing? Lucifer told you to 'calm down'!" Emma wasn't about to try pulling at the coiled tail; if she came loose she would fall and at the current - relative - height would seriously injure herself, if not kill her outright. Seems she'd just have to try talking her way out of this.
"I am calm," Levi smirked, "calm enough to see that I'm the boss level on your quest to make a pact with me."
"This isn't a game, Leviathan!" Emma scolded, trying not to appear afraid.
"I don't see it that way," he purred, bringing her closer to his face. “You actually thought you could defeat a boss with a simple trivia contest? LMAO. You see," the demon continued, "making a pact with Mammon was just a short fetch quest in the tutorial that rewards you with a goofy sidekick. Even though he's my older brother, he's still not as tricky as me."
Still carrying the tiny human, he walked over to the door and locked it. “And don’t think about trying to call for my brother; summons are disabled for this boss fight.”
Wait, that was an option? Emma hadn’t thought about it, because Mammon was certainly out of earshot and she’d dropped her phone when Levi tripped her, or when she was shrunk. Either or.
“Some TSL fan you were, only paying attention for trivia," he scolded, "The overall story is an object lesson about the dangers of pride. I told you, ‘If you lose you might never make it back to the human world alive.’ You didn’t ‘lose’, but you did have Asmo toggle the difficulty level for your questions. You cheated,” Levi smirked darkly, hair beginning to overshadow his eyes, “and some games have clever ways of punishing cheaters.” He flicked his hair out of his face with an annoyed huff, but the dark cast to his eyes didn’t disappear.
“Levi,” Emma tried again, “you c- mmphf!” She pried at the tail covering her mouth, not finding much purchase against the slick scales.
"Ah ah ah," the blue-haired demon trilled, "it's not your turn for dialogue. This," he grinned toothily, “is a ‘Game Over’ cutscene. Even a normie like you should know how those work. I know of at least five video games in the human world that involve the protagonist being swallowed whole, and I’ve beaten them all.” Levi paused, seeming to think something over. "I don't normally deal with humans, as nobody is interested in trying to make a pact with an otaku of a demon like me, so eating them isn't really something I get the chance to do. But maybe I’ll make an exception for you; aren’t you excited?" He grinned widely and slowly began opening his mouth just as wide.
Staring in horror at the gleaming fangs, she tried to scream. Not in fear, but in defiance. No, it couldn’t end like this! Emma was going to make it through the year!
The Avatar of Envy apparently had missed the memo because after the briefest moment of hesitation - Emma didn’t for a second hope that Levi was rethinking this at all, but she did know that from the way his tail was wound around her that unwinding would give her plenty of time to cry for help - he spun her rapidly around and dropped her in his mouth.
"Mammo-!" She had time to scream before Leviathan's jaws closed her off from the outside world. If Emma hadn't been dizzy already, the rough treatment from the demon's tongue would have made her woozy. She swore she could have counted the bumpy taste buds, mentally naming off each smooth, slick, and worryingly solid tooth - shoulder against side incisor, foot against rear molar, ohhh shit forearm between canines! - she collided with as Levi shoved her back and forth, seemingly enjoying humiliating the shrunken human. She tried to tell herself that her lack of resistance was the smart move; even if the monster demon ‘only’ bit off a limb rather than her head, how quickly would she bleed out and die? And that might not even be the worst way to go... All the woman could do was cover her face and pray it would be over soon.
She screamed in anger again, wordlessly this time, as Leviathan's head tilted back and she slid into his throat. Emma had finally gotten over her general fear of the denizens of the Devildom and then this had to go and happen! Her senses overwhelmed her; she couldn’t think; she could barely breathe. Arm twisted awkwardly behind her back, elbow jammed against ribs, wrist angled painfully at her side, his powerful throat muscles squeezed her tightly, preventing her from drawing in enough breath to try calling for help again.
In what felt simultaneously like an eternity and nanosecond later, Emma’s stomach dropped out from under her as she landed in his stomach. There was now room to breathe, which meant there was also now room to panic.
“I had to get you all to myself before Beel could fall to the temptation, or Mammon decide he’s not actually okay with the power imbalance of your pact. Carte blanche pacts are super rare, because a demon'll demand a price few humans are capable of paying, which makes it all the more humiliating for that moron."
His words failed to register, only the tone of voice sinking in. Emma sucked in a deep breath in order to get all the words out at once without the tremble of fear she was nearly consumed by. "If you let me out now, I'll pretend this never happened, okay?" She couldn't restrain the gasp for air and hoped it hadn't been audible, even as she fretted over how much oxygen her hyperventilating was using up. "I'm not even gonna demand you make a pact with me. So," she pounded on the stomach wall with each word, "Spit. Me. Out!"
Leviathan made a small noise of surprise. “Wait a minute, you thought I was serious? LOL,” he chuckled, and the walls around her contracted. “There’s no way for you to earn an extra life, so I’ll give you a ‘continue’ option. You’re in a safe room - for now - so all you gotta do is admit I’m a bigger TSL fan than you and then I’ll make a pact with you. A promise is a promise... and Lucifer would get mad at me if I did eat you for real.”
Wait, wait, wait, did that mean she wasn’t going to die!? He was humming something quietly and it took Emma a moment to place it - the outro theme to TSL. The next words out of her mouth were ones usually reserved for Mammon - “Are you insane!?” - yet the proud Avatar of Greed had not done anything close to this... Yet. Just comments, but he hadn't acted on them, and so they'd become only hollow threats at that point. Given how much hassling he’d gotten from being coerced into a pact - this 'carte blanche' version - Emma could understand it on some level at least.
He laughed, and Emma wasn’t sure if it was a good sign or not that the harsh edge to his tone was gone. “You really don’t understand how outrageous - how offensive - it is for you to claim you are a true TSL fan after only one night! I will not stand for it! You can still watch TSL, but you have to watch it with me, okay? Nobody else!”
Might as well try. Emma herself was proud, yes, but not suicidally so. "I am a fan of TSL, but I wouldn't have gotten right the questions Asmo asked you." She took a deep breath before saying bitterly, "which means you're a bigger fan than I am." Now spit me the hell out!
Leviathan chuckled again, "Good human. I’ll let Mammon know of your fast-travel request, so sit tight."
Was it just nerves or was the goop on her hands starting to make her skin tingle? Emma tried to modulate her breathing to use the remaining oxygen more sparingly. She could hear him recite the words, pledging a pact. It didn't feel any different to her, and Emma wondered again about what exactly being in a pact meant. All she knew how to do was boss a demon around; maybe she'd check the library to better know what questions to ask Solomon.
She was spat out into an oversize - though not 'demon form size' - hand, and felt her stomach churn from the lingering fear and anxiety.
Emma looked up to see the door kicked open, hinges shrieking as it smashed against the wall and bounced back closed with a deafening bang. A white-haired demon stood in front of it, visibly bristling with rage. She didn’t think she’d ever be so relieved to see a Avatar that furious.
"I can't believe you ate my human! That’s not fair!" Mammon stamped his foot, like a petulant child. "I thought you were going to make a pact with her like you promised!"
"I thought you said that was my signature line, ‘it’s so not fair’," Levi smirked, "but don't worry, I did make a pact with her. Not for 'your' human's soul, but I'm not telling you what was in~vol~ved," he practically sang. “You two had time to binge-watch all of TSL; certainly you’ll have plenty of time to research the counterspell. Shouldn’t take you more than a day or two.”
Emma could only look at him pitifully as she dangled from Levi’s hand. There were simply no words for how miserable she felt. An unreadable expression flashed across his face before Mammon plucked her from his brother's hand. She could have sworn she heard him mutter, "Can't let any of the others eat my human," as she was tucked away in his pocket.
Don’t you even think about it. Emma huddled in the jacket behind his hand, not entirely caring where Mammon was going as she tried to slow her racing heart, hardly daring to breathe. To say she was uneasy in her current state was an understatement of massive proportion.
When she was taken back out of his pocket she looked around warily. Okay, she was in Mammon’s room - which was as dirty as ever - standing on his desk. Noticing the worried look on his face, she shook her head slightly and shivered. “I’m fine, just tiny is all.” And a little cold.
The demon looked massively relieved, pulling out a handkerchief and draping it over the human. “Didja catch what spell Levi used?”
Emma frowned, folding and wrapping it around herself like a shawl, grateful for the warmth. “No. I wasn’t exactly paying attention to anything he said after saying he was going to eat me.” Wait a minute... She looked up at him uncertainly, “I was hoping you knew the counterspell.”
“I don’t have every spell memorized; I’ve got more valuable things to do with my time than bury my nose in books like Satan.” Mammon held his hands up helplessly. “He didn’t tell you anything about how to unshrink you?”
She shook her head again. “Nothing other than that ‘research’ comment you heard. Would the library even have something like that?”
“Probably. No, definitely. Alright,” he said confidently, pasting a smile on his face, “all we gotta do is head to the library and read until our eyeballs fall out!”
Easy peasy. Turning the pages might be difficult, and she could only read English texts, but speed reading was something Emma excelled at.
She cocked her head, hearing a buzz. Mammon apparently heard it too and fished out his phone. "Uh oh," he said, white eyebrows arching as he unlocked his D.D.D., "we gotta problem."
"Great, what now?" Emma asked, standing on her tiptoes to try and see the screen.
"Beel's looking for ya." Mammon tilted the phone to show the shrunken human.
Beel
//Mammon, have you seen Emma? Neither of you were in her room when I got done with the fridge. She’s not answering her phone.//
//Oh and also she left her pizza behind, so I ate all of it before it could go stale.//
Emma reflexively checked her own pockets before remembering that her phone hadn’t shrunk with her. “Crap!” She smacked her forehead. “Levi still has it!”
"He's not going to listen to me if I say you're not here, and I can't let him find you like this; there's no way that meathead would be able to resist the temptation." Mammon cracked a grin, "Hell, I can barely resist right now, what with you being so perfectly bite-sized and all." He paused, thinking intently as he glanced around the cluttered room. "Your smell's a lot more enticing than a regular human's, so just hidin' ya out of sight is not gonna be nearly enough."
